Which ROM is it ?
Hmmm, XDA now has at least one Jelly Bean ROM for my Evo... Gotta think about switching over if they have an S-ON rom available...
Which ROM is it ?
There are a few that I'm seeing, but since I'm already using MeanROM I'll probably just hop over to Mikey's MeanBean. His MeanROM so far has been phenomenal on my EvoLTE.

Correct me if Im wrong, but Meanrom is ICS ?
Yes, I'm currently using MeanROM and have been for a while. MeanBean is the new build from mikey, using JellyBean.
I know nothing about rooting so everything you're mentioning in this thread is gibberish to me. Carry on...
Root !
Did you get that 50GB bonus deal for dropbox for your Note 2? Because if you didn't, you can root your phone and enable it, tbh.
Ah ok
You are gonna love JB
Rooting is fun!
Not really it was pain in the ass for me, and like you the instructions sounded Chinese to me (but now I know better)
Bootloaderfastbootfruitloop lolitalyflashbootimg twrpcroflverycmd
But again, HTC phones are harder to hack than other brands
Sammy should be easier to root/flash
this man convinced me to do it

Ironically I semi-bricked my phone this morning updating to the new RootBox 4.2.1 ROM. That's what happens when you go out on a work night.
Didn't actually brick it, but I can't do what I need to do to fix it on my ing work computer.
did you miss a step?
wiping?
I downloaded an 'upgrade rom' rather than the full one, which was already experimental.
And yeah, didn't wipe anything (cache, devlik) and didn't install new gapps for 4.2.1. Just an all-around fail.
I wiped everything and just started from scratch. Hopefully my old anium backups saved most of my .

Dude, download Chrome. I did it on my work computer. When it asked for an admin password, I hit cancel thinking "oh well" then it popped up a box that said "Chrome can install without admin permissions. Continue?"

I tried months ago, didn't let me install. Admin permissions prevented me - maybe it's changed recently?
I was able to install Firefox so I use that an my alternative to IE8.
lefty's experience kinda sums up the whole rooting experience on HTC phones. If that had been a Verizon HTC phone, he might have offed himself from frustration.![]()

There is no better rooting school than HTC phones.
If you can root an HTC, you can root any Android phone TBH
Ok. Don't mean to bust in your thread, lefty. I'm ready to do this to my phone. I have the ATT Samsung Skyrocket. SGH-i727. It's rooted but I don't know which ROM to get. Any suggestions. I think I got the basics down but may need my hand held for my first ROM. Flashing, Wiping kinda confuse me. First thing is can I do the ROM thing strictly on my phone or does it need to be hooked up to my PC?

If you know where to browse on your phone (e.g xda-developers), it can be done on your phone.
Do you have a recovery installed (TWRP/CWM)? Needed to flash a ROM --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1773659
It really depends on what you want in a ROM, I'd personally just start off with CyanogenMod 10 --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1803822
Wiping is required for installing a new ROM and clears all user data. If you wanna preserve it, I'd download anium Backup to save your data. And make sure you use the recovery to backup an image of your current ROM and data in case you just wanna revert back.
Cool. I have CWM installed. I did all that and I got TB Pro. I'm all inI'm backing up as we speak. So, I don't need to do a wipe before I go from the stock ROM to CM10 is what you're saying?
Nevermind. I saw the instructions![]()

Oh and what is this Nightly business?
Nightlies are like incremental releases that work on fixing bugs, released every night (or close enough). Usually there are not significant changes in nightlies; they would be represented in major builds rather.
And good luck! Once you do it once you can basically do anything, tbh.
