No, I want it, and I will watch it, it's just that my DVD player is not working right now. I'll get it fixed or get another one and then I'll watch it.

I got it when I ordered the CD. But, I buy stuff online all the time. I don't know of any stores that would have it. Just have to shop around, I guess.

    Note:

According to Amazon it comes with the CD (I know mine did, but I pre-ordered mine before release, so I thought maybe it was some kind of special, but Amazon says they come with all the CDs); have you bought the CD somewhere and did not get it?

In fact, I always liked Steven Stills' sound the best out of all the guys in CSNY.
Manassas is one of my favorite albums ever - not just because of the individual songs, but the work as a whole - it flows so well - not to mention Stills has a kick-ass voice, and the guitar work is great.

That was one of my favorites at one time, also, Jekka. I don't have that album (CD) any more.

If I were to pick a favorite Stills song, I'd probably go with "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" (re: Judy Collins) pre-Young.

All good choices. There are a few guys out there who completely blow me away with their technique -- when I hear then I have no idea how they are making the sounds they make. I don't listen to them terribly often but am always impressed:

Stanley Jordan -- eight fingers on the fretboard, a one man band.
Les Paul -- two fingers on the fretboard and a picking arm locked into position after a car accident. Lightweight tunes, but plays better than most fully-abled guitarists who aren't 90 years old.
Leo Kottke -- His acoustic work is so dense and intricate, but please never sing again.

There are some guys who may not have had the best technique, but knew pretty much exactly how to fit his guitar into a song -- probably in the same vein as Neil Young:

    Grant Green, Robbie Robertson.

George Benson was an absolute badass on guitar before he decided to become a pop singer -- alot like Nat King Cole on piano.

Peter Frampton. I have never heard ANYONE who can make a guitar do the things he can.

I saw him recently on an old recorded show on Ovation network (I think) - unbelievable what he could do.

I'm not talking about the synthesizer. I'm talking about his actual guitar playing. I know the difference.

I agree that Frampton is awesome, even today, even though he has mellowed.

When mentioning the greats, how could you guys forget about Angus Young from ACDC?

All time greatest is Stevie Ray Vaughan strictly because I'm a Texan. You guys should check out an upcoming guitar player who has actually been around for quite some time. If you're from Texas maybe you've heard of Monte Montgomery. He does a version merge of Pinball Wizard and Oh Well that rocks.

I remember Stanley Jordan. We used to have a CD of his from back in the '80s. I think it's still at my parents' house.

i like satch because he kind of reinvented the guitar but got less credit compared to guys like srv, etc

he created THE defining electric guitar sound of the 80s...sure the 80s metal bands were partially fruity but one thing they have on today's rock bands is their guitarists knew how to in play and throw down some sick solos. today solos are extremely rare, and fast solos are non-existent.

I can't believe Paul Gilbert wasn't mentioned but his days with Racer X are some of the greatest shread albums ever. That guy had unbelievable sweeping arpeggios.
My list would be Paul Gilbert, Allan Holdsworth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Gary Moore, Angus Young, Dimebag Darrell, Vandenberg, and etc. There are more but I have to look it up.

I saw Joe Satriani at The Granada Theatre last Tuesday. It was ing AWESOME.

Did not know half of the songs, but he played plenty from Surfing With The Alien, which is of course the best.

Zstomp owned the ever living out of me in this thread on page 2.

Jeebus. I barely saved my ass on that one.

What's really ing crazy is that I like Steve Vai more than Joe Satriani these days. Funny how our tastes change with age.
