No, it's called having a different idea of sportsmanship. A lot of these guys are friends off the court. So why not spend time with them after a hard-fought series? There's nothing virtuous about letting the results of a game dominate your life.
There's always a time and a place to spend time with those you've competed against. Not immediately after you got beat by them. As some others have posted, you would never see guys like Magic, Jordan, etc...going out of their way to celebrate an opponent's victory. Why? They are compe ors. They take pride in how they compete. I don't have any problem with Danny Green validating Lebron's victory, but to make the effort to go to the celebration of your team's ass kicking is in really bad taste.

i'm not upset about it, it's just funny some of us were thinking he was going to commit suicide after that series and he's out partying. I do think it looks bad though, especially since no other Spurs were with him.

Some people release stress after something like that by drinking. Not necessarily the smartest thing ever, but lots of people do it..

If you're a pro athlete I'm sure you'd much rather go someplace with VIP security then somewhere where fans won't necessarily leave you alone, especially in an opponent's city.

No way Danny would have been able to sleep. Nothing wrong with letting off some steam in town.

According to Green, he was just there (probably to celebrate his birthday) and ran into the Heat party. As I said in a post after the one you quoted, Green doesn't really look happy in those pictures. I doubt he really went there to party.

That being said, you might not see Magic or Jordan party right after a game, but we did see Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis hang out for a while after the Ravens beat the Broncos in the playoffs. Some compe ors can put aside their animosity almost instantly and go back to being friends. As I said, your view on sportsmanship isn't wrong, but it's not the only view. It's pretty clear Green took the loss as hard as anyone did, and he can handle it in whatever way he sees fit. If that means manning up and congratulating James and the rest of the Heat while watching them celebrate his defeat, that's just what he felt he had to do.

Man I don't think Danny had to explain himself but he did. He's a good guy and we should be thankful for that. Lets all move on now.

Dude, the season was over. Nothing wrong with going out to relax a bit after a rough night. He definitely earned it with the great Finals he had.

He's putting a target on himself. He's going to have to live up to the feeling that he can be the difference-maker on the team. It's similar to Parker's statements to Duncan after the WCF last season. We'll see how Danny follows through, but if he becomes a great player (borderline All-Star like Ray Allen for a few years) then this would be the event that starts it.
