Deadline for 2013 owners to keep their team is 8 days away, next Friday. This weekend I will set up the league on Yahoo and extend invitations to everyone who has said they will come back, that way next Friday I just have to invite the waitlist people.

I renewed our league on Yahoo and changed the name to $pursTalk 2014. Invitations have been sent to the email address on your Yahoo account. When you accept the invitation and join the league, it will automatically restore your team name and avatar from last year, so if you wish to change either of those, you will have to go into your settings and do so. Invitations were only sent to those who have said they are returning.
If you did not receive the invitation email, send me a PM and I will reply with the URL and password for signing up.
I've set the draft for Sunday, Aug. 31st at 6:00pm CST. Please let me know if that time and date is not good for you and we can negotiate a different one. However with 30+ days between now and then you better have a good excuse if you can't make a Sunday evening work for a FF draft.

Would everybody be okay with Friday, Aug. 29th as the payment deadline? Ideally I would like everyone to be paid up before we draft unlike last year which was a hectic 11th hour scramble to get everything done. If you have a cir stance and let me know about it I can authorize a brief extension but that's a month away from today.
Also keep in mind if you don't have a credit/debit card and need to pay via PayPal, I can provide my PayPal info and I'll handle submitting your payment to LeagueSafe. I did this for a few folks last year.

Last year, our payouts (with a $300 pot) were:
1st: $175 (58.3%)
2nd: $75 (25%)
3rd: $50 (16.7%)
This year, with the $1200 pot, the payouts under the same percentages would be:
1st: $700
2nd: $300
3rd: $200
Before I open the floor to a vote, I'd like to revive an earlier discussion on the "3rd place" prize. Instead of awarding it to the actual third place finisher, who would have to lose a playoff game before winning 3rd place, I propose we award the 3rd place prize to the Season Points Leader.
Now, as a failsafe to protect against 1st or 2nd place winning the 3rd place prize as well, if the 1st or 2nd place winner is also the Season Points Leader, the 3rd place prize would then revert to the 3rd place finisher. I proposed this earlier in this thread and it looks like only DOK and Lincoln responded to it. I'd like some more input on this from people before I put it up for a vote. We can adjust the percentages if need be, but I wanted to show everyone what the numbers look like first. Waitlist folks can chime in as well.

Couple suggestions:
-PPR stays at a full point or I'm out--definite deal-breaker for me. To those still crying about this--get the over it already. A catch is worth a full point. If you disagree you are a GOT.
-We should add 1 pt for forced fumbles (regardless of TO or not). Since a non-TO fumble is -1, we should reward the reciprocal effect.
-Make every 20 passing yds a point instead of 25.
-Offer 1 pt for every 10/15/20/whatever return yards to the individual (not the D/ST).

-Yeah, I don't want the .5 PPR either.
-Forced Fumbles on defense is the one stat that is curiously absent on Yahoo. I added the -1 for the offensive player so two lost fumbles would cancel out a touchdown the same way two interceptions does for a QB. However, were we to enable IDP (Individual Defensive Players), forced fumbles IS a stat available to the individual.
-Not in favor of anything that awards more points than necessary to QB's considering most of them can throw 300 yards with their head in a bag.
-Individual scoring for return yards can be done. Make up your mind on "x" yards = 1 point. I'd say 20 is good.
My thoughts on these are in red.
Yeah I'm not big on individual return yardage either. That's extra research on some third string slappy that I'd rather not do.
It's not a huge deal for me, but if you ask, I'd say just leave the TDs scored on ST with the D/ST.
imo there shouldn't be any points for return yards, for the D/ST or for individual players.
Just want to reiterate that I can't add points for forced fumbles to a team defense even if the entire league voted in favor of it. We can change a recovered fumble to +3 for the team defense so if an offensive player lost the football, the team defense that recovered it was awarded the same amount.
Or just remove the -1 for the fumble itself since there is no forced fumble category on D/ST.
One thing I'd like to hear from others on is making it so each week the point winner gets $20. Understood if the rest of the league might think this sounds gay as aids since I'm just throwing it out there, but I think it's a method that can keep everyone interested even if their team is out of contention early on. What does everyone think of this:
$260 for regular season weekly point winners (13 weeks*$20)
$100 for regular season total point winner (regardless of whether or not they finish in the money after the playoffs are over)
$240 for 2nd place
$600 for 1st place
This may be hard to do using LeagueSafe. I don't see weekly payouts as an option just glancing at the site settings. I'll call their customer support and hopefully talk to an American person about the ability to do that.
I'm in favor of the weekly point leader payout. My friend does that in his league, but they all know each other and someone in the league holds the money as treasurer.
EDIT: Found it in their FAQ's. Not an option unfortunately.
