theaters i go to say put your phone on silent or vibrate....which is no problem at all for me but it isn't a big deal if they answer a text.
i get your stance. its all about the glow. you can sit through crunching on nachos and popcorn, slurping of soda and the noise of hard candy in a box but the glow is too much.

Oh yeah, owners always have the best intentions for customers. If you can stay focus watching a movie while someone is smacking on nachos next to you, then you can stay focus while a man is sending a 2 second text 10 rows away from you.

Apparently from the last two pages this is to hard to comprehend. This is why more and more theatres are moving towards the policy of kicking people out. The world definitely has lost a lot of mannerisms and generosity towards others, especially when you can't respect people around you for two ing hours of yours and their time.
In one of the movies I saw today there was a woman sitting three rows in front and slightly to the right of me who was checking her phone repeatedly throughout the movie. She never appeared to be actually responding to texts. She never even took her phone all the way out of her purse while checking. I'm sure she thought she was being incredibly discreet and considerate. But every few minutes there was a flash of light in the corner of my vision that, no matter how much I tried to ignore it, was incredibly distracting.
The thing I don't understand is why so many people who apparently prefer the living room experience even bother with the theaters anymore.
