It isn't the government's job to equalize outcomes.

Voting is tyranny of the majority. We are a REPUBLIC not a democracy. If you want liberal big government move to California. But you have no right to dictate to Wyoming what it does.

We the people are supposed to be free to pursue happiness. It isn't the role of the government to "spread the wealth around". Equality of opportunity not outcome. If you want equal outcome try North Korea.

As the government grows liberty declines. Period. If you want that crap go to China.
The US is defined as a republic as well as a liberal democracy. The terms are not mutually exclusive. What is clear is that you have no concept of political theory. I would recommend reading Social Contract. The idea of a liberal democracy is the government is created to protect the rights of the people. It was the entire idea of the Bill of Rights.

This is an example of binary thinking. Government and liberty are not an inverse relationship. Taht you need to dumb it down to make a statement is sad.

He donated $2000 one time to the failed presidential bid of John Edwards back in 2000 and to BO in 2008. Hardly makes him a shill for democrats. The author of the sports illustrated article never actually quoted Pop saying that he was a liberal. He took literary license with that statement. Pop has also supported George Bush when he ran for Governor and while he was President. Attending various functions in support of his policies, especially after 9/11. I was at two functions in SA where he actually introduced Bush at an event at Sunset Station. He's a political mutt, self-admittedly.
How about you back that up with something. I just gave two links that directly contradict your claim.

Oh, I see. Well, there have been other demographic shifts. But back then it was sink or swim and we occasionally took a pause to assimilate people. Now we pander and create subcultures that Balkanize. It is the end of the nation.

To your other point, the ACA is the ultimate class warfare issue as only the elites will be able to get care with it. But the ignorant new immigrants don't know any better so they keep pulling the D lever and the Rs are afraid to be called names so they fold like lawn chairs...
Immigration has been in this country forever. It always has been a political tool. Heck, the last president to sign a full blown amnesty was Reagan. The nation will move on. Strategically though, if Pedro isn't voting red and multiplying like rabbits, then perhaps red team needs to stop calling Pedro a moron and start trying to figure out how they're going to get some of those votes. You want to effect change, you need power. You get power by getting elected into office. That equation never changed.

This is fine by me... this is more of a center position... the problem nowadays though is that if you come up with a position like that, you "compromised", you're squishy/RINO...
I can just never get behind someone who agrees with number 2. People should have the choice to have sex, but if a fetus results it isn't fair to throw that life away because you don't want it. The rest of that list i mostly agree with.

America in general isn't like that, though. The Tea Party is probably the best that ever happened to team blue politically speaking, and the "base" of team red (whose most fervent supporters are some of these southerners) are no longer enough to win national elections. (BTW, neither is the "base" of team blue, which amplifies moderates). Demographics have changed, and the writing is on the wall for some of these dinosaurs, especially those trying to sell the political loser that's soconservatism.

Fiscal conservatism is a much easier sell though, but it has to come with more centered social aspect.

In the name of power-shifts, I'm hoping the GOP regains control of Congress this year, but I'm fully aware they're one Todd Akin away from ing it up.
    Quality post. Kudos

The bottom 50% should start paying at least 1 penny of federal income tax, IMO. They pay $0 currently.
pretty sure it's not that many people that pay 0. http://www.ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pa...ome-taxes.html

I'm ok with the balance the SCOTUS struck in Roe vs Wade. I don't necessarily agree 100% with every point in the list, but put together they're reasonable enough for me.

Their effective federal income tax is $0 because once they're done paying an average of 2.25%, they get that right back via an income tax return.

I don't need to show you any links. I was there at the events where he praised and introduced Bush. I saw him and heard him with my own eyes and ears. He even autographed a mini basketball for my daughter. Your link to SI only shows the writer assuming he's liberal with no direct quotes from Pop affirmatively stating his political affiliation. If you actually read that entire article, Pop never really wanted to spend any time talking to that hack from SI. Most of the info for the article were gathered from 3rd parties.

Pop has long been an ardent supporter for the military and their families, which is the opposite of how liberals view the military. They would rather gut military spending and cut veteran's pensions while increasing welfare benefits for teet-sucking parasites like yourself.

Oh, that's 2.25% of the total federal income tax revenue, not 2.25% of their income. Anyways, it doesn't matter. The bottom 50% pays $0 in federal income tax.

Nobody with those credentials would brag so crassly about it on an internet forum. I'll bet only a fraction of what you said is true. There's a way that a J.D., M.D., L.L.M would act and it's not "lolol i pwn."

Don't know much about utsa. I dont like to assume. My theory is its not so much what school you go to. Put in the effort and exceed the goals you set out for yourself and 10 years down the road what school you attend. Doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things. I would hire a hard working utsa grad over some spoiled rich kid who's dad dropped 80 k a year so his resume would look pretty.

Both Pop and Phil Jackson are liberal, but I always preferred Phil's political sensibilities. He just seems more independent, less of a company man than Pop. It's possible Pop does have some interesting thoughts on things, he's an interesting person, but from what I've read, I've dug Phil's take on things moreso. Phil basically telling ESPN and the media to off with his Brokeback apology is just too classic. edit: as seen below.
