Well now I feel like for starting that game thread, made all sorts of drama. xD
Game 7 on the way, per the orders of Silver...
Spurs win tonight, baby! I really want this win to be like that Lakers one when they lost to us by almost 30 in a closeout game. I think it was 2003 Playoffs where Danny Ferry went off in that game. We made Kobe cry that night!
Spurs 107
Mavs 78
We are going to win tonight. Seems like we're finally figuring a way to play the mavs and slowing down Ellis. Carter isn't going to play like he did in game 5.
A few keys to winning:
1) Get off to a good start, especially TP. Since he has not been able to really sustain his level of play those great first quarters are essential to winning. Spurs need production from TP - the Mavs game plan leans towards making TP a heavy scorer so he has to be decisive.
2) Dont over react to the bad shooters hitting shots for the Mavs or the bad shots. The defense, outside of transition defense, has been ok. Not great, but good enough. Yes, Vince Carter needs to be guarded better but even he hit some tough ones. But especially for Marion & Harris, you want them to shoot. You want them to shot a lot & from 3. If they are inclined to take those shots, especially off the dribble (for Harris) live with it.
3) Box Score Stats: Rebounding & TOs. These are two important stats for the Mavs. They have done an incredible job with TO's: 8, 8, 17, 9 & 8. Spurs arent a major force with regards to forcing TO's, but damn. To be under 10 TO's in 80% of the games is incredible and it's a big reason the series has been compe ive. Spurs have turned it over: 10, 24, 15, 15, & 6. Basically, if the Spurs just keep TOs from being astronomical they will at least be in the game. If they force a high amount & out rebound it will be virtually impossible for Dallas to win. If you look to box scores for hopes, win TO/REB win the game.

We got this. Our veterans will seize the opportunity and close our the series in six.

Clean the glass. Make mavs a one a done team, and switch between Kawhi and Green on Ellis.
Have a feeling we're going to close out tonight. Spurs have almost found themselves.
Its crazy that six game 7's in the first round could happen.
The only thing, and I do mean the only thing that gives me pause about the Spurs closing out tonight is that rascal thinks they close out tonight.
Run Pick and Roll with Tiago EVERY single time Dirk is on the court.
Imagine the most disgusting, foul crevice possible. A place where filth gathers and festers. A seat cushion in an old strip club, your mom's cooter (a typical SpursTalk-esque response), or the crevice on the World Wide Web that is SpursTalk, itself.
Now, imagine someone has just called you "The Heart and Soul" of that anathema.
Be he friend? Or foe.
Stay healthy and get the win. Show no mercy.

He be friend in the truest form. He who see's the forrest for the trees. The one that envisions the home where only a dilapidated structure stands. This is Gotham. I am Batman. A watchful eye I keep as a protector. A healer.
The only thing that concerns me is that if we the bed for a quarter or two, I suspect Pop is going to pull the plug early instead of trying to battle back. While I understand you don't want anybody hurt for a potential Game 7, this is your chance to close this and move on. Various teams have lost big leads in these playoffs (including the Spurs), and I've disagreed in the past with Pop giving up too early before. Hopefully, there's no egg laid, and we don't have to worry about it.
I'd like to see the following:
-Green on Ellis from the start
-Parker with another big 1st quarter
-Establish Duncan early
Overall, I just want the Spurs to hang around and not let the game get away from them. They've been getting the better shots for the last couple of games and should continue to do so in Game Six.
Basically, in games where the Spurs have limited TO's, they have been in every game. I am not too concerned about having a chance to win unless they turn it over a ton AND Dallas continues to hit a lot of 3's.
They need to tighten up the 3 point D. VC might of hit some flukes but he improved as a 3 point shooter this season. The stats may not show it but I've watched some Dallas games this season and the dude can hit timely shots.
Turnovers are the key. If we don't turn the ball over, we win. If we do, we lose. Simple.
it's win or go home... literally
