cool, thanks. i've been wanting good mexican food for awhile now.
any other suggestions?
For beef fajitas, its Chachos all the way. For fajitas overall in general, Taco Tote is a definite go. They need to hurry up and start opening more of them like they're going to do. Man, chicken fajitas on homemade corn tortilla!!!! MMMMMMMMM. By the way, has anyone tried that new mexican restaurant on 281 called "El Matador"? God, I wish they would've left it Do Brazilla. Anyway, they offer all this buy one, get one dinner free stuff. They must not be doing good with all those specials, in fact every time I pass by for work, the place is empty. I don't know.

There's another place I like to go to called Tacomiendo on the corner of Culver and Inglewood. Carnitas and cabeza aren't that good there, but the carne asada is excellent. For just tacos my favorites are Campos on Venice and Western and Tacos el Gavilon on South Central and Jefferson I think. None of them comes close to El Tepeyac though.

If you want to try a piece of San Antonio history try Mario's on Fredricksburg Rd. just outside of 410. Great menu and atmosphere but you might want to call and see if there are mariachi's playing or not the night you want to go.
He passed away some years ago. From the 60's to the late 80's his old restaurant used to be located where UTSA is now. The food at the old and nrew restaurant is way better than the junk you get at the Cortez family restaurants (Mi Tierra, La Margarita, Pico de Gallo). Although their mole is pretty good.
Mario was a trouble maker..............![]()
with cream chees in the middle? my cousin and his girl make those whenever we barbque
Yup.. philly cheese.. some thin bacon with some black pepper. Use gloves! (non latex kitchen gloves)
Those will burn the asshole alright.
damn I'm jonesing for some bacon wrapped stuffed BBQ jalapenos right now.........
LAWLS. I've been to Mexican restaurants in MI. All of them were a joke. They call breakfast tacos - "morning burritos". And they put french fries on their salad like the crazies in Philly. They were even advertising Jalapeno Poppers with the catchline -Catch a buzz with our delicious Jalapeno Poppers! They release endorphins in your head...etc etc...Absolutely ridiculous.
I grew up with Mexican Manhattan and Los Barrios. Probably the two best Mexican restaurants in San Antonio. The chalupas at Mexican Manhattan are the greatest ever and NEVER order 2 unless you are famished.
Ah finally! Someone else mentioned Mexican Manhattan! I love that place. I actually reccomended it for tonight, but they closed too early. Their patio is never crowded even though it's on the river.
Los Barrios has still been good the last 2 times I've gone, but I still prefer MM. The fajitas tonight were supper good, however. MM has beans and rice that remind me of my grandmothers cooking, though. And that is definetly a good thing.
No Argentine restaurants in SA?
Man you guys are missing on some fine cuisine!
no, but we have a brazilian one!
where is mexican manhattan?
anyone ever been to Azucar downtown? (azucar, azuca .. same diff.)
I went there for lunch with my mother in law one time and it "looked" awesome!!
But we had to leave before we were sat because she forgot her blood presure medication way on the other side of town.
to this day I'm wondering what i missed out on .
Actually, the Brazillian one is now a Mexican restaraunt.
If its the one on the access road before Bitters on 281, anyhow.
the name is EL Matador.
and it sucks!
