Clinching the le is always the sweetest, and nothing was sweeter than exorcising the demons of 6. For me, now, it has to be Game 5 of the 2014 NBA Finals.
Goat thread tbh. Almost teared up. Anyway the best for me is 2005 finals, game 5. Just the best game ever in basketball history as far as I'm concerned. We've come close in 2014, but it wasn't just one game this time. Starting from game 6 vs OKC it was just so good that I almost got used to it.

#9 was the game that really was do or die. All the others were good but that 05 Finals game was the most important win in Franchise history IMO. I have no doubt that Detroit wins the le had Horry not gone crazy in that game and won it
btw, thanks for the memories, B Bum, good job.![]()
this is one of the many Spurs-beat-Suns memories that caused the Steve Nash to cry when he and Suns finally beat the Spurs in the playoffs.
Wow....tuff one....
I'd have to go with Memorial Day though.
Shouldn't you be out liberating Syria, you ?
2014 Finals Game 5
...because 5...
...and I was there.
Great thread and very hard to answer as we've all been spoiled with many great games during Tim's career. Every time Tim -slapped the Utah Jazz was sweet but I'd have to go with Game 5 vs. Pistons.
That was an unbelievable performance by Horry and in the toughest of cir stances. The Spurs had been pounded and manhandled in Games 3 & 4 by the Pistons and things looked bleak. Enter Robert Horry and that 3 he made at the end of the 3rd. The rest is history. Few remember that Horry played like dog in the 1st half or even worse, made no impact whatsoever. He solidified his place in Spurs lore with his 4th quarter and OT heroics. Simply amazing.
Honorable mentions go to:
1. Game 6 vs Nets (DRobs last game and second Championship) / Tim's near quadruple double.
2. Game 3 vs Heat in 2014. Kawai's incredible performance.
3. Game 5 vs Heat in 2014. # 5
4. Game 6 vs Lakers - 2003. Ending the Lakers run for 4peat with 28 pt victory. First series loss for Lakers in Staples.
5. Reg. Season, comeback victory against Suns when Manu went for 48 pts.
6. Game 6 vs. Thunder - 2014. Spurs weren't going to be denied.
7. MDM - Sean's unbelievable shot. Few remember that Portland still had last shot of game to win. Spurs D held.
8. Game 6 vs Mavs - 2003. Steve Kerr / Stephen Jackson lead amazing comeback to head back to Finals.
9. Game 4 vs Heat - 2014. Leonard's put-back dunk of Mills' missed 3. Broadcasters gushing over the Spurs and all but declaring them Champs.
10. Game 3 vs Clippers - 2012. Spurs comeback from 20+pts down to roast the Clippers in Los Angeles.
2005 Finals Game 5 replay today on NBA TV. Got the DVR set.
Favorite games off the cuff:
1. 2005 Finals Game 7
2. 2005 Finals Game 5
3. 2003 Mavs playoff Game 6
4. 2003 Lakers playoff Game 6
5. 2014 Finals Game 3
I don't think I can pick a favorite but that was definitely the game that made me say Holy ! the most times.
I still say it every time I see it.
