Is it possible he's having panic attacks? He has been through a shock and now he's in another world. Some dogs react this way from stress. Maybe some doggie xanax would help?
Kori,
Don't worry. I'm sure Tank Is ok but just needs time to adjust.
The poor baby has gone through so much these past few days.
Once again Congrats on your new addition to the family. God bless you!

I guess it's about a year old. I didn't know about it either until I saw the card at my vets.

What pet owners spend on boarding is music to the ears of Mic e Guerrero and Jason Sauceda, who opened Home Away From Home kennel on Mainland Road about a year ago.
Holidays and weekends have been packed at the 65-run kennel, which is open Sundays and specializes in housing large dogs. Mic e Guerrero said pet day care is starting to become one of her most popular services.
"Sometimes it's a one-day affair, and some use it Monday through Friday," Guerrero said. "Day care is meant for a dog to be socialized. A lot of people are taught that crate training is a good idea, but it's hard when you have to work late or run errands after work."
And though doggie day care seems like a good idea, it can run a customer at Home Away From Home about $160 a month — if they leave their pet there five days a week.
Thanks for all the suggestions/ideas. I'm 99% sure it's Kennel Cough. When he lays down and rests, he's fine. But when he's walking around he hacks/coughs constantly - it's sad. I wish I could get him to just lay in bed and rest until he feels better.
At least he doesn't seem sad or in pain or anything.
so now not only have people lost their homes, some have lost family members, lost access to water and nessities, but people are stealing, looting their beloved pets now too. Have to suffer the lose of hurricane and then not have your loved pet considering how pets have been shown to help eldery people be more happy and healthy.
It is a shame peopel have to take other peoples pets away.
might as well adopt lost babies that were in hospitals and not return them to their mother and father.
has their even been an atempt to reconnect families are they just round them up and shipp them across america
I'm quoting this because I want to be sure what I originally read isn't edited later.
These are dogs that were already in the shelter BEFORE the hurricane. They aren't dogs they found on the street or anything. They saved them from the flooding shelter in N.O. where they were up for adoption already.
Why is that hard for you to understand? They don't belong to anyone. They were already waiting to be adopted.
sorry I didn't know they were already in shelters that makes a big difference. I thought they were other peopels pets lost in the storm
Home Away from Home is wonderful. My dogs enthusiastically endorse it.
Cool--glad to know that! I had already made reservations somewhere else when I found out about it.
Did you get it checked for heartworms? A symptom is excessive coughing.
Nevermind I went back and read the posts where he was checked.
How's he doing and what's his name?????
He's not hacking as much. (Still quite a bit, but not every few minutes like before.)
And he still doesn't have an official name![]()
Glad to hear he's doing better!
And name him!![]()
