Rap is as good as it has ever been, tbh, maybe better..today's mainstream rappers are influencing the youth to aspire for money, partying, fun and expressing their emotions, rather than a bunch of fake ass s pretending to be hard and influencing kids to kill each other, etc..

There are ty rappers today like Kendrick Lamar and J Cole that try way too hard without having the content to back it up, but still, most of the other mainstream guys are doing it well, led by Drake..

Are you suggesting that poor lyricism built around how much money they make is a positive message?!!?? Are you that big into riding? There aren't enough spots for untalented kids to get signed at Drake like contracts. And fake...Drake rhymes he s with that power, Rick Ross stole his name and gimmick from a real G. They sell lies and fools gold to the stupid secular youth. s drop out of school tom with Pro Tools, every mother er got a mix tape and some clean sneaks but sleep on their mommies' couches.

And real rap is an modernized and urbanized form of the blues. Heavy rhythmic beats while someone tells you about their struggles and what they've been through, and you can relate. It's the kinda nthat makes you move and feel connected, if you can't differintiate between a song and reality, then that's as disjointed as fools listening and getting excited about rich maw ers rap about their money and jewlez. They don't go out there and tell you how to get it, they are telling you how they got it and still got it. And it makes es in the club dance. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be listening about another rap about what he got and getting excited by that message, that of envy and worship. I don't ride.and these dudes make ride music.

We all know today's rappers benefited from Russian speech therapy training and the rappers in the 90s couldn't even hold a microphone and speak at the same time.

    1. I don't care enough about music or musicians to ride anybody

    2. Poor lyricism is subjective, bro

    3. Stupid kids trying to be rappers is nothing new..it's more prevalent today because you can become a Youtube star, along with marketing on Twitter/IG..that doesn't really have anything to do with the quality of mainstream rappers, though

    4. I still with all the music I grew up listening to in the 90s and 2000s(programmed/nostalgia), but I like prefer today's style of progression, tbh..

Personally, I listen to music to bump the in my car or when I'm at the gym or partying..conscious rap and try-hard lyrics don't do that for me, and most of that is trash, anyways..

    Canada's son defending Drake? Nahhhhhhhhh
Drake os talented i hate when people act like he is not. When he was a mixtape artist he had some pretty good lines decent flows. He sounded to much like Wayne but he wasnt bad his first album was OK he showed promise. Then he was on some emo wannabe andre 3000 but did it poorly cuz and i lost interest. Cuz he is one of the best ever. Still think he has talent and he is basically the poor man's Jay of this era. He has crossed over and is the most commercially relevant rapper. He makes hits. Not my favorite rapper i think Kendrick and Cole are both better as well as Kanye ...but Drake probably has more fans than all 3 at the moment or at least more than the young guys. Smh

I have to say the rap game was better back then because they were less white american mainstream rappers.

My Geto Boys station rolls this one out for me almost every time I'm in the gym...either this one or Paid Dues. Seems to favor Eightball & MJG. Got to hear No Vasoline by Ice Cube the other day. I almost forgot how deep he went in on the rest of NWA on that track.

Drake is basically the Taylor Swift of the rap game. Cant deny the talent or the success but neither artist moves me. Botj have hit catchy songs but onky so much of it I can take. And even at his best Drake was a punchline rapper ...and i like a hot line but if uou never dau anything that means something was in the point? How does hot line bling take any more skill than shake it off?

Best punchline rapper in the game is Devin the Dude. No one did it better.

Cole and Kendrick both on Drake from a message and lyrical content standpoint. Drake has hits more than both guys tbh ... but radio hits does not a top MC make ...
Again i dont deny his talent but out of today's MC's I take both over Drake.

    All time i also take:

    Andre 3000
    Nas
    Em
    Cube
    Snoop
    Rakim
    Black thought
    Mos Def
    Meth
    Da chef
    Ghost
    Gza
    ODB
    Redman
    DMX
    BDK
    Pac
    Biggie
    Scarface
    JayZ
    Jadakiss

I could continue but you get the point
