Alan Lomax worked for the Library of Congress, his job was to roam the south looking to record rural music. So there he is in Clarksdale Miss in 1942, looking to do just that. So he stops at this church, and found one of the most amazing sounds ever to be recorded. Stunning.
The great Blind Willie Johnson recorded the original in 1927, and it is a masterpiece, but you can never pass up on Tom Waits.

As you've notice if ya wanna find Blake just look for Avante and there he will be. Well I don't like the weido, he's too damn messed up to waste time on and I tell him that. But, here he STILL comes pouncing on my leg every chance he gets. So I finally tricked the boy (just say mentally weak) into this deal........
I stay out of his thread (why you saw the Blues, yard sale, Olongapo threads) and he stays totally away from me. That is the deal, now look at him,, hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!
