Kawhi did that also..Not sure it was his own doing though..Pop kinda ed him on that I think?
Aren't you excited for this year where he'll be carrying the exact same team on his back except just one year older?

Says who? He's surrounded by . Even Duncan almost left to Orlando. Kawhi is a Cali boy, I could easily see him wanting to join a Cali team to be close to home.
If he leaves will you go the with him.............PLEASE..............

It feels like Hill already knew what he was going to do and we'll find out soon enough. I'd say Spurs liking increasingly likely.

I don't get why not. There's a market out there he seems to be ignoring.

You think he's ignoring the market? To join the herd of PGs the Spurs have already rounded up?

You don't think Philly would have paid him $24 million instead of Re ? And which PGs on the Spurs roster are the good ones?

All the talk about Hill commanding near-max money has pretty much dried up. Obviously GM's don't read the same analysts as fans. I'm starting to think he'll be getting Mills-like money.

I can't believe there are people still thinking he's coming here, though.

At press time, the "good ones" are unknown/tbd. I said nothing about quality just quan y. You think that the Spurs just used valuable cap space on Patty and still plan to sign GHill as, what, the 5th PG on the roster? Surely you believe that one or more of them would be moved to make room for Hill...

When Teague bolted, that's what I thought.

It was odd that the Spurs were talking to him; then talks broke off and they signed Patty immediately.

My guess is that Hill and his agent were believing that he was due near-max money, and the talks with the Spurs never went that far. I really don't think they "broke off" at midnight, any more than I think they made a snap decision about Mills. They knew they weren't getting anywhere Hill's number, and moved on. They had their deal ready for Patty, and made a point of doing it immediately to send a message that he is wanted. It's not out of the question that they never really wanted Hill more than Patty anyway.

Like most posters on ST, I was guilty of thinking Patty had played himself off the Spurs' roster and onto another team's. Your speculation sounds pretty reasonable once you discard any preconceived idea that the Spurs and Patty were destined to part ways.

I hope you are right, and PATFO doesn't regret signing Patty when GHill signs elsewhere for $15MM.

Patty sure got some bogus advice to reject Utah's extension.

They would've lost Patty and been forced to pay Hill. Sad for Hill. He had a good offer from the Jazz but the market disappeared.

I am very sorry for George. One of the oddest developments I have seen in all the years I have followed the NBA.

Guy went from getting almost twice as much as Patty just got to possibly accepting a Patty-like deal. Sad.

Yeah. Strange. And sad for GHill, who I really like. If we could have had him for Patty's money, that would have been fine by me, even though I really didn't want him for what I expected him to get, and I really want to see Murry promoted to the A-team.

Don't think the Spurs did either and that's why he is where he is. Wonder where he ends up in the end...

    We were so lucky

The Admiral, then the Big Three, then the Klaw.....

now, the reign of the Spurs as one of the very best teams in sports could end soon

    unless................something happens..........
