IIRC, that was the explanation I received in school, too.
Liberals have no need for truth, just false narratives.
They were chump long before chump ever got here.

Well, spelling is much different than pronunciation. My post was just a possible explanation of why it would be spelled like potatoe - not that that spelling is correct in current day English - maybe in old/middle English - not even that far back - maybe three hundred years ago?
It sure bothers you.
I think his trying to throw the school under the bus for his up probably makes him a bad person.
Either he was truly stupid or was too dependent on scripts to be respected. Take your pick.
Try the eighties. NYT used the spelling in a 1988 article.
And it was a good explanation, btw.
Starting to see why even the chumpettes won't take you. He was posting something that leaned in my favor.![]()
Potato - phonetically would be po as in pot, ta as in tap, to as in top.
lecture the school teacher on basic grammar and spelling now if you can please
More fake narratives.
He was the moderator. He was getting the kid to spell the word as written on the card. Having good intentions doesn't make one a bad person. Obviously, you're a steaming pile of (aka a bad person) in your own right though.
so mad.
He was so desperate to follow the script he couldn't even trust himself.
If he actually knew that in the first place -- I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Careful Pavlov doesn't like intermingling spelling with grammar. He's a Purist.
According to my dad, English is very difficult to learn - unlike Chinese which doesn't have tenses, little grammar - but no alphabet, and those tones are the same to my tone-deaf ears. English: I read. I read (pronounced "red" as in the past). He can't tell the difference.
They can mingle just fine. You just didn't know what you were talking about.
Again.
Don't carry a grudge.
I thought rmt was a schoolteacher from misreading her post actually
Damn, admitting your own error.
Amazing. Chris and Spurtacular could learn a thing or two from you.
You seem to do that a lot actually.
If he actually knew what?
How to spell potato.
How come djohn2oo8 didn't get the callout, given that he is one who has actually erred in this thread?
chump and his moral narratives of convenience.
Yes, I did misread that chart that one time.
Good point.
He didn't err in making the thread.
I verified his OP.
You're still holding a grudge about Dan Quayle of all people.
So, your contention is that Dan Quayle was merely being a bully?
This coming from the guy that mocks every conspiracy theory.
So, you're saying that djohn2oo8 is error free in this thread?
