Probably the latter, but when you consider that a lot of states may have a flat tax instead of a progressive one, and a standard deduction on a "take it or leave it" system... meaning hardly any itemizations allowed... that could make the numbers odd.

Another thing is that NC doesn't have a tax distinction between single and married (I don't know if CA does?), and my federal tax status is married filing jointly.
    even after the divorce?

Houston is considered by a lot of meteorologists to have the single worst weather out of any major city in the world. Not just the USA, but the world. Just about every form of natural disaster you could think of, short of maybe a major earthquake or volcano, can happen in Houston, and otherwise it's 95 with a suffocating heat index practically all year long.
Lol. South Florida is every bit as nasty, with even worse humidity. Ever played baseball outdoor in Florida?

Eh the divorce is actually on hiatus and it's not looking like it's going to happen anytime soon after all. She keeps doing things for me that make me want to stay with her I guess

Less flooding risk in the big cities & greatly reduced tornado risk. Though a somewhat higher chance of hurricanes.

    South/Southwest Asia says hi.
They don't get tornadoes, much severe weather, and major hurricane/typhoon landfalls in that vicinity are rare (much more common in China and the Philippines). Though yeah, India would be a ty place to live for many reasons. The people stink... lol. The offices I work in reek of them.

Basically the only natural disasters that are really an issue in Houston are Hurricanes and floods. That 95% of meteorologists thing is BS. Worst is extremely subjective. Weird post.

Florida has just as many flooding issues if not more! They have the same tornado risk too. i'm not sure what your industry is, but this is mine and you're wrong.

There's plenty of tropical cyclone risk spread through out SE Asia. You're right that they generally don't get many tornados but thats about the only thing in this conversation you've gotten right lol.

TCs don't really develop close to the equator because the Coriolis effect is lackluster between 10 degrees la ude on either side of the equator.

But in Florida, it's upper 80s with a lot of rain all year round and you have the larger ocean which keeps the temps from getting way too high. In Houston it's always in the mid to upper 90s with oppressive humidity on top because it is surrounded by hot ass Texas on all sides but one which is the northwest Caribbean (GOM) which is deep bathwater the majority of the year.

Yes SA is hot. The winter is great. But, a natural disaster here is losing a top 5 NBA Star. Other than an occasional severe thunderstorm and a 25 yr flood it’s awesome here.

They are virtually identical in the summer and in the winter Florida cities are substantially warmer.
