I don't trust DJ's handles since then.
most of his shots were makeable for him, little in and out mid range shots, his handles will definitely get better, you can really tell his passing game is developing and although he was pretty horrible at defense, it was more mental mistakes than anything. I mean I remember Dejounte getting ripped like 2 or 3 straight plays in the playoffs by bev and he turned out okay. People just need to be patient.

People need to lower their expectations, he's not some generational talent or even an all star. Its rare to draft future all stars at the end of the draft. We hope he becomes great but chances are he won't. A rookie is never a bust in his first year unless you are the No1 or 2 overall pick and you suck throughout the season. If he's the same next season then yes he's a bust.
The only thing notable about this scrub is his terrible haircut tbqh
I guess we all have to be realistic. Maybe he's just as good a CoJo.
the kid just turned 20. Give him another 2-3 years and he will be good
Right now he's worse than CoJo but he's a rookie with a big injury. If he ends up being CoJo then in most of our fans eyes he's gonna be a bust because we liked CoJo's hustle but thats about it.
CoJo was HORRIBLE as a rookie.
Well, we got to manage our expectations of Walker.
He looked like a midget out there against GSW.
He's a bum. We're lucky D White is turning out to be a solid player besides the injuries tbh
Meh, LW4 will be just fine. He's still wet behind the ears, & hopefully, he has upside to tap into. Last night's game was like "baptism with fire!" The Dubs don't play around on defense, & you have to take good care of the ball; be decisive & play with confidence against them or else, they will eat him alive! They have some film to use as coaching material. It would be nice that he gets more burn time to gain the experience & confidence that he needs. But the ball will also fall onto his court to diligently work on his game & his strengthing in the off season to improve himself. This is where the rubber will meet the road with him. He has athleticsism, good passing skills, his shooting is okay, & his handles are okay as well. If he can sharpen & hone in on these skills as well as work on his defense & on court decision making, he'll be a good, if not a great player for this team & in the League. There are some players that are naturally blessed with basketball skills that would help them to immediately contribute to the team/game. But there are others, like LW4, who has some good skills but is still limited from being an immediate contributor on the court as a starter or 2nd unit player. The culture of this team is to let the rooks slowly develop their skills; work hard at it & prove that you belong on the court, which is predicated on knowlege of offensive & defensive play sets; executing them, low ratio of turnovers & using BBIQ. He'll be alright though, we as fans just have to be patient, I guess. GSG!!!
Everybody thought White was a bum so I’ll give him time when we drafted Walker it was based on potential meaning two or 3 years. I think he will get better the only thing concerns me is his knees I would not be surprised if Spurs draft another SG this year.
Antonio looks nothing like Avery
I thought Lonnie's main issues last night were between the ears
Hard to say what he'll bring to the table. He hasn't shown much yet, but he's athletic, smart, seems to have decent tools, so we'll see. He's not NBA ready at this point. I'm willing to give him some slack so far in his short career.
Stupid post. Plain and simple.
Tom Orshborn
Rookie guard Lonnie Walker IV will miss Thursday night's game at Portland with a sprained right ankle, according to the Spurs injury report.
Hes Brandon Roy without the basketball skills
There's a higher than normal chance that Walker will end up being injury prone and never turn out to be a good NBA player. Thats the entire reason the Spurs were able to draft him at the position they did. The guy dropped due to injury concerns. The Spurs knew that going in, but felt the upside was high enough to make the pick.
That being said there's noting to indicate he's a bust yet and even if he turns out to be a bust this thread is incredibly stupid.
But that's completely on par for Spurstalk these days.
"Rookie guard Lonnie Walker IV will miss Thursday night's game at Portland with a sprained right ankle, according to the Spurs injury report."
What is it with the guards? Walker out again? How many minutes has he played in the NBA?
Not jumping to conclusions, but I'm not quite as optimistic about him as I've been. I hate to say it, but he looks to have little to no feel for the game and reminds me of LaVine.
I have the same impression. Maybe not the kind of vertical that LaVine has, but certainly no idea how to read the defense or the offense.
You thought Murray was bad, Lonnie looks even worse!
He doesn't know how to play organized basketball. He looks like a lifetime fitness baller. Lol at dumb asses in here saying this kid has a high BBIQ. Hes a dumb young kid with all the athleticism in the world, but has no clue or feel for the NBA game.
In total fairness, he does have a good shot. There are many athletes that can't even shoot.
