Borrego was an OK coach but I feel we would need a higher profile coach to replace Pop. Quinn Snyder, Steve Clifford, or Kenny Atkinson. These 3 have a a history of coaching young players. My pipe dream would be Steve Kerr, but he is going to coach in Golden State as long a Pop has here.

The last two coaches analytically had some of the worst coaching seasons. No retreads thanks.

I would think outside the box,,,. No re-treads. Kerr never had any coaching experience before he got the Warriors job. Nash didnt either with Brooklyn. I would hire Robert Horry as coach. A dude who learned under Rudy T,,,Phil Jackson,,,and Pop. He has 7 rings and is arguably the most clutch shooter coming off the bench in NBA history. He has ice running through his veins,,,,he could teach players how to have a killer instinct. But that just my suggestion,,,,,

I was big on Ime first, then Hardy. Given Ime is starting to get something special going in Boston, I say you bring Will in now as coach in waiting.

For me.. Matt Bonner. He seems to share a lot of similar characteristics which I see in Kerr.

Oh no. Kerr has intensity. Bonner would get walked all over.

Kerr despite his size was a successful guard, despite his salary became part owner of the Phoenix Suns not to mention general manager as well. Now he's been a successful coach at GS. The guy has smart written all over him. That's the kind of coach we need. Some low key players make the best NBA coaches. If they aren't playing, they are watching the game and learning possibly for a job down the road.

He's a screamer. There's a reason he never got another NBA job after Dallas.

    Sounds very feasable.
Doc getting bounced in 2nd round after his moronic overplay of Embiid leading to injury.

Like the Spurs for 10+ years, people are making the mistake of telling Pop when he's too old to do his job. That's Pop's call, and it won't be about being too old. It will be about wanting to do something else. Right now I don't see him wanting to do something else. If you can be Potus at 80 why not HC at Pop's age?

I agree with this. PGs that weren't that great when they played but might have the will to be a coach.

    What's Parker doing?

I’d be thrilled if it were Snyder. I also really liked Atkinson who was with the nets years ago.

Stein: "The Lakers' interest in Snyder as a successor to Frank Vogel is serious, sources say. There is nonetheless ongoing skepticism in coaching circles that Snyder would want to move from Utah - where he has enjoyed a considerable amount of control and influence - to take over the LeBron James-led Lakers in their current state after the never-ending chaos that engulfed Vogel's last two seasons. Vogel, remember, wasn't allowed to choose any of his primary assistant coaches and had to take constant input from Lakers from office advisor Kurt Rambis."

Said this weeks ago, that he might be the only coach who can afford to be choosy who'd probably pick the Spurs over the Lakers.
