I think ppl simply watch Jones' height and assume he is bad on defense when it's not the case... Dude was DPOY in college... Sohan gets washed on D all the time, but because he is tall, it doesn't register to people how bad he actually is...

I think it's because in an ideal world, Jones would be the weak link of the Spurs because of his size. The problem is that the Spurs are nowhere near that ideal case, and Jones is probably their most sound defender. Most defense is played with a player's feet. It's how you move and where you are, not really how high you can reach. Jones isn't perfect, but he's the only guy playing above-average in those metrics. A better-coached team would have or be playing multiple guys with that level of defensive understanding. Then they could worry about Jones' size. Right now, that's not limiting the team.
