He's looked solid for his role/price. I remember another big who looked really good at first too, his name is Charles Bassey. Since I'm going on a tangent, did Bassey peak his first month on the team and then just sort of fell into the culture and wasn't allowed to develop his outside shot and then basically just became a worse version of himself?

    Paging Scott.
I can't pin all of Bassey's trajectory on the Spurs... I'm afraid injuries robbed the Prince That Was Promised more than anything else. With that said, Bassey did display an outside shooting stroke his first year with the club and in the G-League. But the last two seasons he's attempted a total of 1 3P shot, and I believe it was a buzzer beater attempt.

I think the thing with these guys like Bassey and Bismack is that we've grown so accustomed to watching guys with no rebounding skill - that any big who comes in with decent fundamentals and hustle all of a sudden looks like Dennis Rodman out there.

Since Bassey has knees of a 70 year old, I wouldn't mind keeping Biyombo as a third stringer next season.

Would definitely agree- not really sure why he hasn't found a roster somewhere.

Great signing. It makes the games a bit better to watch.

Good on him. Now maybe the crack Spurs shooting coaches can help him develop a 15 footer. Lol

Glad they signed Biyombo. He may be old but at least he's competent and he also hustles. The glaring problem is that other than Wemby , we have the worst backup centers in the league. We really need to find one for next year.

Considering Paul has not been traded at the deadline, I Hope he and Bismarck Will be signed next season...they have very good chemistry and both bring veteran leadership...boh help from the bench and some time starters (depending on matchups)

Only if Paul comes off the bench.

Why would we want a competent player who fills a need of ours anyway? It's time to tank as hard as possible. Start sochan at center lol

I think I'd rather keep him instead of Bassey and take a 7' guy who can shoot in the 2nd round... Kalkbrenner, Ivisic, Raynaud...or someone like that...maybe Wolf if he falls..

I’d rather not have either of them. Bismack is doing a valiant job filling in, but is not a serious NBA player. Bassey has shown flashes but his knees are completely unreliable. Get a legit backup and 3rd string C from the SRP guys you mentioned.

Hate that Bassey’s knees will ultimately cost him the opportunity to be an NBA player, but that’s the way the cookies (or knee ligaments) have crumbled.

Which one? Zvonimir is a better shooter and creates more stocks , but is a poor rebounder. Tomas is a good rebounder, pretty decent shooter, but doesn’t create stocks.

^ he’s a pretty cool dude. Was also VP of players association, and apparently also donated a whole year’s salary to build a hospital in Congo.

My preference is to throw a healthy offer to Lopez this summer. We need to stop messing around with the front court depth.

I wouldn't be mad if the Spurs sign Bismack to a one year deal for depth.

Bismack "Alonzo Mourning" Biyombo looking pretty good out there tbh. Hard to believe this dude was just sitting on his ass at home all season when the Spurs desperately needed a C..

Unless we make moves and get a better vet big, then it seems like they definitely need him next year. For a minimum contract, seems like a no brainer. Next year, could give the second unit some structure. But, they'll need to make some room and let some people go, I imagine.
