It was only a matter of time before they came crashing back down to earth. The pace they were setting was relentless. I figured this was coming weeks ago. So my hat is off to the Pistons. They put together a truly remarkable run.

The Hawks would be .500 if they drafted Chris Paul who would of filled a need for them as well as just being a better player than Williams.

If I was a Hawks fan I would be incredibly pissed with that decision in the draft.

Spurs after 6-8 start in 99 went 31-5 and then went 15-2 to win championship in the shortened season. or 46-7 = that was a run for the ages.

It's surprised to see many spurs fans are so HAPPY when the pistons still have two more games ahead and they won the spurs by 15 in both games.
Well I respect the spurs and those spurs fans who understand the pistons are still a great team but they are just in a slump.

Again. I hate the media who brought up the 70 wins talk. I am tired of that. It's a good weapon for the pistons haters to use whenever the pistons lose huh? I hope I would have that weapon too. The pistons record was way more worse at this point last year. They lost the Atlanta and other crap teams few times last year too. But NO ONE said LB was a bad coach. Now after the 37-5, all of a sudden people say Flip is a bad coach? Now open your mind. Any teams can lose to any teams in this league during regular season. The hawks deserved to win and the pistons deserved to lose tonight.

LOL, we suck. Sheed is taking this "I don't want to be an all-star" thing way too far. A normal game from Sheed and this is a 10 point win.

How the do we lose with Tayshaun scoring 29 points on 13 shots?

Looks like Pistons fans can't post that we have twice as many losses anymore.

Joe Johnson comes in averaging 9 ppg against Detroit, and gets 29. Embarassing.

Does this cement Chauncey's MVP status? Ever since he took that knee to his thigh against the Lakers he has shot 31% from the field and the Pistons are 3-3.

    wow.

detroit might want to consider fixing whatever ails them.

and buying a bench. that might help also.

Looks like the Pistons might finally have to sit a starter due to injury. Starting Hunter and using Arroyo as a backup might help their bench a bit and get Billups healthy for the important part of the season.

Yea, the bench was what did it

    Bench stats:
    56 Minutes, 21 points (56% FG), 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals

The bench was decent. They didn't get a whole lot of touches. Only 12 shots. But that's a problem with the starters. They tend to forget they're on the floor out there at times.

This was a Chauncey/Sheed loss. Both played ty. IMO, We need to say screw HCA and just worry about staying healthy and developing the bench. The starters look "out of it" right now. And it's tough to beat teams when your biggest strength is negated like that.

Watch out for a trade. I can almost guarantee you're going to see Dumars deal Darko and Arroyo for a good backup PG and maybe a pick or something.

ok so the pistons lost to the hawks and so did we. whopp di doo. If I'm a pistons fan, i'm not too worried. even the 72 win Bulls lost back to back (one of which was to toronto!!) i still think detroit could easily whip up another 11 game win streak. i also think dallas will drop one to miami

Chauncey is beat up, and it has killed his shot. It should have been Tayshaun, IMO. People wouldn't expect it really, and he was on tonight (29 points on 10 of 13 shots). He is capable of hitting the big shot. He hit a bunch of big shots for us in his rookie year in the playoffs.

Chauncey out played the bench by himself. and most of the bech stats were from one man. But I don't think the pistons bench is all that bad, wish we had Evans.

With that said, every night some players pick up the slack for others, as tay did tonight, so no excuses, they just lost today.

2 games seperate the Spurs and Pistons now. All that talk of running away with homecourt can die now. Of course, they have the tiebreaker on the Spurs, so it's really like a 3-game lead.

I'm gonna take the high road here. As big a Spurs fan as I am, I'll readily admit to anyone that I don't like our chances against the Pistons at all without HCA. So I'll enjoy the Pistons' loss, and the fact that we only need to go three games better than them the rest of the way and let's leave it that, okay?

We don't need to get into petty fan rivalries here in February, imo. Let's wait until we both make it to the Finals before we act like it's the 00s version of Lakers-Celtics here. I, for one, am not assuming it's gonna be a runaway through the first three rounds of the playoffs. We're not playing well at all right now. Our offense is sluggish as , we can't get a rotation, and nobody on our bench is playing well except for the 12th and 13th men. The Mavs are playing much better than us, at the moment. And the Suns with Amare should be quite a load, now that they actually have a bit of a bench. I don't think it's going to be a 12-0 formality for the Pistons either. Both the Cavs and the Heat should give them a series. So let's wait til June until this becomes an official rivalry, okay?
