Collins was wrong. Rasho was in the lane for about 5 seconds, Dampier was not.
Rasho only need be within an arms length of a Mav and he can be in the paint all day.

alvatore was on the baseline, in front of Tim. He had no view of Dirk behind Tim, and hense made the call as he only saw Tim walking out of bounds. While I agree, it was a bad call, it was not Salvatore responsiblilty to call a push he had no sightline to call. Salvatore was exactly where he was supposed to be, and called only what he saw. It was the other two zebras who should have been in position to see and correct the call when they saw the obvious push.
Actually you're wrong. I officiate basketball. As the baseline ref it is your responsibility to flatten yourself out away from the play so you can catch things like a push in the back.

Bennett was standing there picking his nose, and made no attempt to move or even peak his head around Duncan.

Bad technique all the way on that one.

It was a bad call, but when faced with that situation, being nudged and walked out of bounds, and you're not hearing a whistle, CALL ING TIME OUT.
I don't mean to take all the fun out of it and get all technical, but Duncan would have been pulling a "Webber", Spurs did not have any TO's left, neither team did, announcers even mentioned it. Remember they scrambled to get on Defense after the "Travel".

But then again, just before all that, they said the Mavs were out of TO's, and when they come back after commercial, they say the mavs have a 20s left, more interference by Salvatore!!!

Thanks for your info, but calling YMCA games is not the same as the NBA. In the NBA they have 3 zebras watching much bigger, quicker more intense action. Even with 3 zebras, even with perfect position by all zebras, if you know anything about calling games, you know sight lines will sometimes be blocked. It is up to the member of the officiating TEAM to make the correct call others are blocked from.

Bennett is just a bad ref. How he gets consideration to be a crew chief is beyond me.

I accept that some Spurs fans don't like Salvatore, feeling he has it in for the Spurs. There was a time when I felt the same way with Javie when he was often in the mix against the Lakers. However, as the Spurs grew and got stronger, Javie's calls appeared to "get better" in my view, having little impact on slowing the train. Now I see Javie as one of the better zebras in the NBA. Go figure?

Salvatore, like Javie is front and center in the playoffs, because a rating system established by the league says they get it correct more than the average zebras.

Spurs fans should not focus on hate from past blown calls and narrow their focus to only see the calls he blows. Blowing calls is a "illness" all zebras suffer from. Judged on his entire game, Salvatore is rated as one of the best zebras in the NBA, because he is. Period.

A while ago, Javie was universally agreed to be, if not necessarily a bad ref, one who would let his temper dictate his calls.

Everyone also agrees that now he is one of the best, after getting his temper and ego under control.

It just happened to coincide with the Spurs getting good.

    ^^^

    Thats exactly right.

Ive found Javie to be the most fair ref, and when wrong, ADMITS hes wrong.

Salvatore is a complete bumbling moron.

He has no bias, hes just an idiot.

Him, Violet Palmer, Anthony Jordan, Gary Zilenski, Monty Mcutchen, can all take long walks off short piers. Oh yeah, and Louis Grillo, dumb mother....

Great. T-Park and a few other Spurs fans contend their limited view of games Salvatore calls is more valid expression on his ability to call games, than the NBA zebra ratings that reviews thousands of hours of tape throughout the entire season, and rates him as one of the best. LOL!

He blew a call. Get over it!

Show us those zebra ratings, I really want to see it.

Bennett Salvatore still has his job because Stern has him over a barrel.

After several officials got busted for tax evasion over the airline ticket scandal several years ago, many had to get down on hands and knees to get their jobs back.

Bennett was one of them (reportedly one of the biggest scammers), and now he conveniently shows up whenever the league needs a series extended in the playoffs or one of its high profile teams to get a win.

It has nothing to do with "zebra ratings".

The league does not publish their ratings, but they do always place the best rated zebras in the playoffs. Salvatore gets games in the playoffs, thus he is one of the higher rated zebras. End of story.

You're standing 30 feet from the play with players in between you and the play and you call a foul on Duncan on a clean jump ball.

    you.

Like a great wine that has peaked, his descent into mediocrity is embarassing to watch.

Without David Robinson, there is absolutely no difference between Tim Duncan and Chris Webber. Come to his defense all you want dumbass homers, the fact of the matter is that if we got anything resembling a good game from Duncan, we are champions tonight.

    No David, no ring- PERIOD.

With everyone else ragging on Duncan for being 'soft', I stuck by the now three-time MVP, knowing that he would rise like a phoenix above the ashes and carry us to victory. I'm proud of myself and the determination, resolve and loyalty I showed.

What a year, what a year, what a year. So many ups and downs so many sleepless nights, so many fullsportpress vents, so many stressful close games, but it was all worth it.

Big ups to Duncan, Ginobili (we've officially found our second star), Bowen and Horry with honourable mention to Brent Barry. These guys did it all.

I'm very proud of this team today. Last night was a defining moment in this franchise's history and a night I for one will never forget. It was once again magical to see the greatest Spur of all time, David Robinson embracing his apprentice on a night that cemented Duncan's place in the annals of NBA history.

Congrats to the Pistons for competing right to the end- you guys are worthy opppoents and proved that last year's le was by no means a fluke.
