Man how many freaking games are the Mavs going to pull out in the final quarter. Down 18 the other day and down 24 today. It's like they are doing it just to tease us... Oh well, March 2nd will be here soon...

How many think the current Spurs would have pulled this W out?

Damn, Mavs are proving they're for real this season. This is like the third or fourth time this season I've read about them magically coming back from 15-20+ point deficits to win the game.

Well the spurs are a much more even team. In that they aren't as streaky as the mavs so usually they won't go down by 24. They got Duncan in the low post at all times so if they struggle getting a basket Duncan will be there. The mavs can score a ton of points in a short time. It will definitely be an interesting matchup March 2nd when they meet.

I'm a Mavs fan and I have to say that our team right now is on a tear. I guess losing to the Knicks lit a fire under our asses which has lasted up til now and could last longer. I think this could be the Mavs season because now we can play defense. There have been multiple times this season when we need some big time defense and we've got it. Against the Spurs it should be a lot easier than most teams because let's face it, ya'll aren't the best scoring team out there. I remember we did the same thing against the Suns that we did today. Down 17, won in double OT on opening night. We are a streaky defensive team right now, but Avery will turn it up in the postseason and force us to play tough defensively. I think this could be our year.

Usually I am not one for name calling...but the "Craptors" seems like a nickname that is so right for this thread.

    The "choke-ters" didn't work...either did the "BlowA17Pt4thQLead-ters".

Are you kidding? Giving up nearly 70 pts in a half against the Raptors is considered playing defense?

Hey the spurs gave up a ton on the raptors to. Doesn't mean they are a bad defensive team.

It sure doesn't but the Spurs have a reputation of playing defense and the Mavs don't.

Same can be said for ya'll you let Toronto score 118. Ya'll must play NO defense. How can you base your thoughts on a team on one game? What were you saying when the Mavs only allowed 12 points to the Warriors in the 4th and came back and won? I bet we were the best defensive team in the NBA then.

The Pistons and Spurs both know how to turn the defense up in the playoffs. The Mavs don't even know how to win in the playoffs much less play playoff defense. Until they do it I don't believe they can.

Hey the pistons play against the weak east. If the mavs played there they would be in the finals for the last 2 years. The pistons do matchup well with the spurs and everyone in the east but not with the mavs or suns. The spurs however matchup well with everyone except the pistons (ane maybe not the mavs). The pistons have gotten a free ride to test out their playoff experience while the west battles it out. We'll see this year what happens but this gets old about the mavs have no chance since they haven't done it before.

I'm sure that the early playoff exits do get old. Must suck to be a Mavs fan.

Well aren't you Mr. Big Bad man. Calling us Ponies. That's a good one. With a full season under Avery and a new backup center (Damp) and a new starting center (Diop) and an old veteran that was last on the Mavs when they went to the conference finals (Griffin) the Mavs are much better equiped to win in the playoffs and play some tough defense. Speaking of the WCF of 02-03, who went down that pretty much gave the Spurs the series? DIRK! That's right, he's not getting injured this season, see ya in the second round es.

Too many Mavs fans are too far ahead of themselves, planning the parade route. Too many Spurs fans still seem not to have noticed that Don Nelson isn't coaching anymore and that Dallas has, in fact, done some impressive things this season. Let's try to find a happy medium, people.

He wasn't our backup before 18 games ago, so I'd say he's our fairly new backup center.
