I use the Statistics Toolbox. And maybe if I programmed my ass off for the next 6 months straight, I can come up with something a tenth as slick as SPSS's prepackeged programs for surivival analysis and logistic regression. And then I'd still have to try to match the graphics packages.

For signal analysis type of stats, MATLAB wins. But not for life sciences/biological/social science statistics.

Well, I will give you that MATLAB graphics are actually too customizable for their own good. There have been plenty times where I just wanted a reasonably simple packaged routine to plot 3 or 4 different items (in a "Wizard" format) and I had to go and write the damn thing myself...

Then when she said she was at the drive-thru when it went out, I was like "oh, ! She really does miss her husband!!! Isn't that a possible traffic hazard using it in the car!?"... then it snapped that she meant car battery. I guess I was the only one....
