You need to chill with Big Worm as I bust out a 40oz patna!
Sorry, I had actual work to do. What did I miss?

I looked like an idiot? Save me jeebus! I am held in a low opinion by an unemployed Suns fan. I guess it's time to go hang myself![]()

Barkley had a good point, that parents should be role models not athletes. However, I don’t remember Barkley ever backing down for that statement but feel free to send me the link that states otherwise.
I don’t agree that these stars can say "I don’t wanna be a role model so I can act however I want". It comes with the $$$ you are paid. Don’t like it choose another profession.
I would also like to add an actual response to the original question posted:
NO, I would not rather the Spurs throw the season to get a top pick in the draft. That would be idiotic. There is no need for a top pick on the team right now. Tim, Tony, and Manu are packing a good punch right now, and if all three are having a good night, the Spurs can't be beat. Now that Barry, Finely, and even Udrih are stepping up in the shooting, and Nazr is tearing up the boards, I don't think the Spurs need to worry about getting some inexperienced rookie.
Sorry to do this again, but I never said the Suns are better. The Spurs have a better record and are defending champs. Atleast someone finally owns up to the tanking.
he has stated repeatedly on inside the nba that no matter what athletes think and what he said, they are role models because kids look up to them, and they have a responsibility as a role model because they are in the public eye. and btw, larry played for a few years with back problems just like david robinson did, then retired when the pain was too much. do you ever check facts?
And let me guess, you're some 12 year old who started watching Phoenix when Nash got there?
Anyway, your topic le is stupid. That's like saying "if the other teams in the league don't win, should they tank the season to get the #1?"
Please, STFU.
Amare does not own Duncan. If you really think Amare averaged 37 PPG in the WCF because he owned Tim, he didn't. Pop let Amare do what he wanted and stopped everyone else. So before you want to make comparisons about the Greatest PF of all time to a new upcoming talent, just remember...
Spurs 4 - Phoenix 1

Dude there was no significant back problem that was my point. So the pain was so bad that he only played 6 games one season, and then didnt miss any for two seasons????? David was fine, they just didn’t want to take the chance that they would actually win some games.
All of you fools need to STFU!
Dallas is going to win it all!
You hate the current front office because you claim the team tanked 10 years ago.
You do know it's not the same front office right?
I think that you hate the front office because they continually put together teams that are able to outplay the Suns at their own game, and their lame ass attempt to bring in a defensive player or two without teaching the team defense hasn't worked out so well against the Spurs.
Also, you are a ing moron who demands proof without providing any of his own, and hopes that little nugget goes unnoticed in the midst of his juvenile insults. Yes, you posted some stats, but ignored the pertinent point of the other arguments.
And as for being a bandwagon fan - friend, I've been a Spurs fan since 1990, when George Gervin talked to my class about not doing drugs. I was there in the heartbreak playoff years. I saw the pain David Robinson was in the year they tanked, and you are a ing asshole for your suggestions. I know who Sean Elliot was, and I still watch my tapes of the Memorial Day Miracle Shot when I'm having a bad day. I watched box scores via the internet my freshmen year of college, because I was in Houston, and the games weren't nationally aired.
I am not giving a jack off like you any more of my time.
Damn man, you just got...

I love that arguement. "Pop let Amare do what ever he wanted"...What choice did he have, who was gonna stop him???? That is great. Dude dont worry it was not only the Spurs that could not stop him.
Your right it was 4-1. Wow your good???
Do you have a brain? They didn't want any help on Amare but Tim because they knew if they helped on defense, someone would be open, and Phoenix last year was a great shooting and passing team. So the way Pop saw it, let Amare get 40 points and let Marion get 5. Works for me.
History lesson the team was sold to new ownership in 1996. I think this decision goes a little higher then GM. NEver said he didnt hurt, but it was not an season ending injury. And hey dumbass I never asked for your time you chose to come in here. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If YOU knew any basketball history, you'd know that in the 6th game he played in the 1996-97 season, in late December, David Robinson broke his foot against the Miami Heat. Whether his back was hurting him or not, he was going to miss at least a couple of months to heal that injury.
And that back problem was pretty minor. David never missed any playoff games because of on-going back problems after 1996-97. Really.
I guess your argument is that Pop and Robinson got together and said "Hey, let's pretend that you broke your foot. Then you can sit out the remainder of the season without people thinking we're lying about a back injury. Then we can have a record that's bad enough to be in the lottery, but not bad enough to ensure that we have the best chance at the #1 pick (particularly because the Celtics will have the best chance and will have additional help in the form of the lottery pick they acquired from Dallas). After all, if we don't get #1, we'll be cool with Keith Van Horn or Ron Mercer or Antonio Daniels or Tony Battie as our prize for having tanked a season."
They really sold you on that too with the on-going nature of the conspiracy. I mean, Sean Elliott was in deep cover to make that story fly, missing 50 games in 1997-98 and willingly staying off the playoff roster to ensure that nobody would immediately figure out what the Spurs had done. Chuck Person (who had been the 6th man in the two preceding seasons) sold it, too, by willingly sitting out the entire 1996-97 season.
If you're going to blast history, you might bother to actually learn what happened. Dip .
Right, nine years ago. You wouldn't happen to be from Boston, eh?
Sounds like you, kiddo.Yes the Spurs had a team in 1997. Freaking bandwagon fan.
Yeah, he suffered a major back injury while representing his country in the Olympics and then he broke a bone in his foot early in the 1996-97 season. You may want to learn a little before you start flaming and look like a moron.1996= 59-23 (win division)
1997= 20-62 (Hmmm same team wonder what happened, isnt Duncan available and boy the Admiral* is old and a choker)
1998= 56-26 (Wow they won the division again)
For those who have no idea who the admiral is, let me know and I will provide some background. And yes he was a basketball player.
Ok cool...Duncan needs help to keep Amare under 30. Nice!
Dude you guys need to get together on your history, I have one guy saying he had huge back problems, one saying a foot. I know lies are hard to keep straight.
You're so ing re ed. If Duncan got help, Amare would pass out to some like...uh, Nash or Jim Jackson (since Marion and Richardson were big pussies and couldn't do ) and they would hit a 3 or throw the defense off. Gah, you're ing stupid.
You forgot Elliott, who missed well over half the season and was an all-star in the prior season. AJ and Del Negro were their starting backcourt. Elliott was the starting 3. Wilkins was slated to be the 6th man.
And he was never the same. The back injury plagued him for the remainder of his career, often causing him to miss games because it tightened up, most notably in the 2002 playoffs.Yet some how he played EVERY SINGLE GAME the next season.
He did retire with two rings, two more than anyone's managed as a Phoenix Sun. That must suck.
Actually, it was both. David missed the first 17 games of that season with a back problem incurred in the Olympics. He played the next 6 games, but broke his foot in the 6th of those games. He didn't play again that season because of a combination of the two.
Clearly, you aren't hearing that, because you have no interest in really fleshing out the story, since it doesn't jive with your nonsensical explanation for the way things are.
You and "fromwaydowntown" may want to talk. "And that back problem was pretty minor. David never missed any playoff games because of on-going back problems after 1996-97. Really." Wow this is sad...![]()
Yeah, the back injury was so minor that he got shots to relieve the pain and relax it often.
And it's "sad". Learn how to spell, genius.
It's too bad the balls didn't drop in San Antonio's favor in 1997... They only tanked to the third worst record in the league because they were hoping Keith Van Horn would fall to that spot.
Can you imagine Keith Van Horn playing side by side with David Robinson?
Oh what could have been...
You may want to talk to someone who can explain sarcasm to you in simple terms.
