Who are you going for the world cup?

Brazil, Argentina, Holland, Germany, Mexico, and maybe even US have all legit chances.
yes, if you mean on XBOX 360 If you think the US has a legit chance of beating Brasil you don't know anything about football.

I have high hopes for our squad, but I just can't seem them coming out of that damn Group.
Im very confident that the US will make it at least to the semifinal, I think we have a very good team, maybe better than the 02 team. We lost that tournament because them damn germans cheated with the handball.

Anybody play FIFA World Cup soccer for PS2? that game is tight!

are you serious?? ok let me paint you a picture. Your ONLY chance of reaching the semifinals would be to get 1st place in your group. By doing this you get to play Croatia in the Round of Sixteen. Otherwise your only other choice is coming in second in your group and playing BRASIL (yes, you're reading correctly BRASIL) in the Round of Sixteen. We all know the US will NOT beat Brasil and I don't know about everyone else, but I'm also preety confident the US is not going to come out 1st in its group. SO in other words... you be in a world of hurt mate

I think the US would do well to make it into the 2nd round of play again. I do agree that this is the best (potentialy) US team we've ever fielded, but this is also a incredibly hard group we're in. If the team is healthy and Keller plays out of his mind (they way Brad Fiedel did in 02), then I can see then making it into the 2nd and then making a bit of noise. But they aren't going to beat the powerhouse teams unless they go Greece on this tournament.

Like themvp said. I`m not from USA. Because my national team is not on the world cup, I hope that BRAZIL will win. BRAZIL>>>ARGENTINA.

I know you're probably trying bug me by saying that, but I really can't get mad at something that is probably true

By the way, really original of you to cheer for Brasil Its like a popular thing now a days, everybody's "second team" is Brasil how convenient...

Im really looking forward to seeing England play together this WC.

    My favorites in order

    1. England (where i grew up)
    2. Netherlands (they really impress me, and i love Ajaxx)
    3. USA (where i live now)
    4. Germany (They impressed me in 1998)

I think England still has a fighting chance without rooney. They have some really talented folks on their squad.

I'd feel better about the chances for the USA if more USA players were seeing significant time in the top European leagues. I don't find that MLS is a particularly high level of football and I actually thought the emphasis on MLS between 1994 and 1998 played a big role in the USA's terribly disappointing performance in France. It's promising, to me at least, that fairly young guys like Beasley and O'Brien are getting at least some seasoning with good European teams, but until most of the American players are contributors in European A leagues, I don't think American hopes should be terribly high.

Funny, I thought O'Brien got away with a handball, in the opposing team's box no less against Mexico in the second round...

He should have been red-carded for that deliberate play and Mexico should have been awarded a penalty.... Instead the Mexican squad was scored on in the ensueing fastbreak generated by O'Brien's punched ball. Mexico unfortunately lost their cool and never recovered...

BTW FIFA permenantly sanctioned the referee (for the bad officiating in that particular game) and he can no longer 'ref' a WC game again... Stern should follow suit and retire Bavetta.

Brasil has always been my second team as well (Mexico and US tied for first... damn that last World Cup game had me split like Oscar De la Hoya )

I have one team, and one team only. If Argentina is disqualified thats really it for me, but I'd have to say if Argentina no longer had a chance of winning it, I'd love for Brasil to win it just because I have great respect for Ronaldhinio. The man plays the game the way this game was meant to be played, it just seems the guy is head and shoulders above everyone else and truly enjoys the game. Brasil isn't my second team, I just think they'd deserve it more than the rest! (excluding Argentina that is )

Yeah, the official song always blows.

I agree with you FWDT. I was really dissapointed when Landon Donovan came back from Europe. I'm glad Beasly has done well out there.

I think we have a legit shot to get to the 2nd round on the backs of those 2, especially if Eddie Johnson can put together a solid performance.

I remember in 94 playing Brazil on July 4 and having several chances to win that game before losing 1-0. I wouldn't think the US can get past Brazil but stranger things have happened in Copa Mundial. This is supposed to be the best US World Cup team ever, I am anxious to see what they can do. You will forgive me ManuMania if I don't give up just yet.

I thought Ricky Martin's song, "The Cup of Life" - "La Copa de la Vida" was pretty good.... (putting aside whatever impression or reference you may have of Ricky Martin himself...)

    I still like that song...

Hey I'm not asking you to give up. I mean, yeah you're right, anything can happen on any given match, but it is EXTREMELY unlikely you'll get past Brasil is you have to play them. In 94 Brasil had a good team yes, but this year's team is a lot better than 94's, a LOT better. Still, I'm not telling you not to hope you guys make it, that would be stupid.
