My guess is the Spurs had this deal done for a while.

They just couldn't announce it until the finals were over, per league rules.
Well, they certainly didn't think of it today.

Pretty good trade for both sides. Although I don't think Rasho is worth the cash, I don't know if you could've gotten a better deal in this Center-hungry market.

Now Bosh could be a dedicated PF! Colangelo at work...

I highly doubt it's gonna be something Earth shattering ... but the feeling of the trade has cap space writting all over it. Ben Wallace is certaintly a name that will be talked about, but again, I highly doubt somebody of that magnitude.
    We're still over the cap.

Bonner always struck me as a "David Wood" type.

    Eric Williams is washed up.

Guess this is the best they could do.

Not excited that much over this.

Rasho isnt that bad guys....as a raps fan I'm satisfied by Bryan Colangelos move. Rasho is a solid center(in raptor standards lol) and you guys get 3pt shooting Boner and an ok defender, with horse teeth eric williams.

You guys will be mad when you see that Eric Williams is old and can't play anymore, and Matt Boner is the worst defender in the league and has terrible handles. Also Boner hits the side of the backboard when anyone contests his shot, or gets an airball.

The best part of this deal for you guys is probably the draft pick...but the "Red Rocket"(Boner) is pretty solid acquisition.
    So?

Worst case scenario they both suck and are our 11th and 12 man. We still saved a load of money.

But not pressing up against the luxury tax quite so much, at least after this year.

Not this year we can't. We're still over the cap and we'll just have the Exceptions. Being slightly under the cap isn't all its cracked up to be because you lose the MLE and LLE.

It is a good move, but not something that is going to make the Spurs a huge free agent player. Don't forget we have overseas players that are going to take money if we ever bring them in.

If Spurs wanted to how soon could they turn around and trade Bonner or Williams as ending contracts?

Yeah, Brent Barry used to be a good FT shooter, too. Then he became a Spur.

    Angel and RashoFan,

Very sorry, girls. I was really excited when Rasho signed, saw him playing out his contract alongside Tim, Twin Towers Version 2.

But Rasho has nobody to blame but himself.

He never put up the numbers for the Spurs that he had @MIN, which was probably all that the Spurs were asking for. It looks like the Spurs just didn't think Rasho was worth the money.

    Bon voyage, Rasho.

This is a great deal for the Spurs, even if Bonner and Williams prove to be completely useless on the floor. Last year, the Spurs struggled to make a deal, I think, mostly because they didn't have any disposable players who anyone really wanted (Barry was close, but even that doesn't sound like a deal that arose because someone called wanting Brent Barry) AND they didn't have any expiring contracts to sell and give other teams cap relief. Now, you have not only gotten rid of Rasho AND acquired a guy who might be Ferry-like, but you've got at least 2 deals that you can ship out in a trade to address some problem that might arise. So, the Spurs got a look at 2 players to see if either brings anything -- essentially for free, given what they gave up -- and they get pieces they might be able to parlay into something even bigger and better.

    Nice job.

Williams contract is a player option for 06-07 which he will obviously use unless the Spurs present him with a buyout. That could free up an additional 4.296 mil for 06-07.
