Yeah but if we go that route then we will get pounded on the boards. I'd rather stay big Dirk is going to get his at least we won't get killed on the boards. Besides Dirk averaged 27.1 ppg on 52.7% fg shooting against us. I mean I love Bruce but asking him to guard somebody 6 inches taller and 30 lbs heavier than him is a little much. That's a whole different topic altogether though and Pop seems dead set on using him to guard Dirk.
Dirk averaged 27.1 ppg against smallball, not against Bruce. Bruce had to move to cover Howard and Daniels and Harris and whoever else was lighting the Spurs up, plus he had to leave Dirk to try to help when someone blew past their defender. I'm all for a big lineup, but since it's now gone, there isn't anything better out there than what the Spurs already have IMO.

Kyle Korver. Doubtful the Sixers let him go but if AI is out then they are blowing up the team. Contract's a little long but he'd give you that automatic shooter from the wing.
Yeah, all the Spurs need is ANOTHER three point shooter.

Why focus just on what's on Philly's roster? That Philly is interested in Udrih (allegedly) doesn't necessarily mean that a trade would involve a Philly player coming back to SA -- it could very easily be that Beno fits somewhere in a multi-team deal that moves Iverson. If Iverson is actually traded, I'd suspect that deal will have a ton of moving parts to make everything work out. Or, it could be that the Spurs and Sixers might work out a 3-way deal that has Beno going to Philly, but someone from somewhere else coming to San Antonio.

It's now the season for outside-the-box thinking.
Wasn't it Boston that was the other team? Who do you want from the Celtics?

What's wrong with that? If you are sending talent out the door then at least get some back. He fits the system.

Not every trade has to perfectly address your needs. That's how you end up doing ty deals.

I don't know that you can assume that an Iverson deal would just be a three-teamer with BOS-PHIL-SA. In the original deal, there was no mention of SA, and if the interest in Beno has something to do with an Iverson deal, then things have clearly changed.

If the supposed interest in Beno is completely independent of a deal involving Iverson, it would probably be fairly easy to bring in other teams to make a deal work out -- particularly if the Sixers have something that a third team wants and the Spurs desire something from that third team.

I'm not trying to really propose possibilities, other than the possiblity that a deal that would send Beno to Philly might not result in the Spurs taking back a player off the current Sixers' roster.

Well, it's not like the Sixers are the only team to express interest in Udrih. And it's not like Hunter was even rumored to be a Spurs' target...

We shouldn't give up on Beno yet, he's young, cheap, has a good jumper and he can run the floor well with Manu, Tony, Finley and Brent. Give him a real chance. .

I think people are being too hard on him. He was a rookie. And this year he wasn't given much a chance because we needed Van Exel's brilliance instead .

    Let's keep him.

I think that if we dont see any improvment next year, then we have to give up, but I agree that he deserves at least one season with minutes to see what he can do. UNless we get a sweet trade offer
