Stay near the bench.
No, but you make a good Stern ass kisser.![]()
Stay near the bench.
You're wrong. Sarcasm just fueled the fire. He should have addressed the issue with the prudence of a judge or kept his mouth shut.
Unless you are Phoenix, and then you can do what you want and count on the American Idol voters to call in to have your suspensions overturned.
Fueled what fire? The internets whining fire?
What the does fire have to do with it? You guys have been whipping yourselves into a lather since game 2 of the series. David Stern wasn't involved. The Suns were the ones who sent a tape of Amare's flat tire to the league and started asking that Bowen be suspended. I wouldn't be surprised if he's just as sick of the crybabies as the rest of us are.
The fact that David Stern went to every media outlet and answered questions should be admired. He didn't snap at anyone on PTI or ESPNews, he just got pissed at Patrick. Dan Patrick suggested that he had no right to suspend Amare because he's a superstar. Then he followed up and told him that he had no right to suspend the Suns because they didn't go very far off the bench, and weren't going to fight. Dan then followed up and told him that he had no right to suspend them because Horry started it. Dan Patrick has always hated the Spurs and didn't even do a good job of disguising it, and he got his ass handed to him for it.
His response was that of a buffoon. Never watched the show (American Idol) but I might pay to to see Shecky Stern open up for Nick Thinblood at the 3:00am lounge show at the AZ Casino.
OK, OK, let's say HYPOTHETICALLY that what Horry did was on PURPOSE to bait the suns players off the bench. Who are the morons who fell for this devious plan?
Except that he was right and his logic was unassailable, you're correct. His response was that of a buffoon.
No , why weren't Burke and Banks designated to lose control of their animal instincts and rush the floor?
I do not argue with you sir, only Mr. Stern's sarcasm.
Amare didn't get involved he was restrained before he did...keyword, BEFORE. Granted, there was a 50/50 chance he might have gotten involved. No one really knows what he would've done.
The one person who said that if Horry planned this all along and his jersey should be retired here, just shows how narrow-minded "new" Spurs fans are today. I don't think you would hear that coming from the "reasonable" ones who post on here.
He got involved when he left the bench area. That's why the rule is worded the way it is.Amare didn't get involvedSo let's roll the dice and rewrite the rules to let players run out onto the court for any reason whatsoever.Granted, there was a 50/50 chance he might have gotten involved. No one really knows what he would've done. For a writer, you can't recognize sarcasm for .The one person who said that if Horry planned this all along and his jersey should be retired here, just shows how narrow-minded "new" Spurs fans are today.
So? Anyone who didn't know Stern is a should know. That's as good a way as any.
I just get paid for it.![]()
That was very funny.
What difference does that make? The rule, as written, doesn't embrace any discretion to consider intent or actual involvement. A player who is not in the game MUST -- keyword -- be suspended if he leaves the vicinity of his bench during an on-court altercation. "Must" doesn't mean "if the Commissioner thinks it's wise" or "as long as it's not against the perceived best interests of fans" or "if the player is a superstar and his suspension might impact the outcome of a playoff game." Must leaves no discretion.
Is it a bad rule? Perhaps. But I don't think that you can legitimately argue that the Commissioner could, in midstream: (1) ignore the rule in this cir stance; or (2) change the rule on his whim. There's a reason that the league has specific procedures for changing rules. It's curious to me that so many who complain about this Commissioner's power are so willing to give him carte blanche to change rules in the middle of a season.
Not for recognizing sarcasm.
From someone who thinks his team was " ed" for being suspended for going into the stands and throwing punches at random fans, creating one of the most shameful incidents in the history of American sports, you have no high ground on which to stand. Your indignation is laughable.
If Horry were clever enough to deliver a hard foul and was so sure that it was going to bring only opposing players off the bench that he was willing to sacrifice game 4, which was still only a three point game at the time, he's got skills bordering somewhere between a savant and a clairvoyant, and it's a of a gamble for one of the biggest clutch players in NBA history. It's such a ludicrous thing to believe that I didn't figure even you would have a problem with it.

Are you taking credit?
Shocking. Proof that people can't place the blame where it belongs.
No, he doesn't need my help. He's deflating faster than the Microfiber ball.
Yeah, he'll be voted out by the fans any day now.
Well I guess we can dream...
