Agree.
I think this is the UFC moving past Griffin fight. This will herald in a major new super star.
And this isn't a can for Shogun either. Griffin is a solid fighter but he is not elite.

Lutter off the UFC 74 card...Guida vs Aurelio better be bumped to the swing bout damnit!!
http://www.mmanews.com/ufc/Travis-Lu...th-Injury.html
Can't wait!!
The good news is this card looks like it has the potential for lots of 1 or 2 round fights and his fights tend to run long so there is a high chance of a swing bout IMO.
Although my gut says it goes to Babalu v Heath....
Damn it. As one of the few remaining Travis Lutter fans, this disappoints me. But I'll get over it because Filho vs. Doerkson is on for free!!!!!
Sunday night is going to be a war. But don't worry if you miss it. It will be replayed no less than 10 times in the next 2 weeks.![]()
I've got nothing against Lutter...I'd just rather see Guida vs AurelioTravis is going to have a really hard time getting on another PPV after this I would think...
Can't wait for Filho vs Doerksen. Joe is a crafty veteran (39-9) that's really hard to submit. Give me Filho by armbar though...

He beat LebenI remember watching that fight when Leben showed up on TUF 1 and I didn't know anything about him...
The WEC this weekend will be a submission extravaganza.
I hate to fighter bash but Lutter is an idiot. There simply is no excuse to not make wight for a le fight in the big show.
But, I liked him on the show and I think he is a good dude. He just screwed up but man did he screw up.
Nate Quarry is back...

We'll have an official WEC thread tomorrow![]()
Why are all of the WEC cards on Vs network and not ppv? yeah im not a filho fan( or anyone else ahead of rich in the MWs) I know he will win but that should be a great card.
There is not a big enough "buying market" for it. Being on PPV is extremely expensive and even the UFC cannot afford to risk putting the WEC on PPV.
The WEC being free also helps to saturate the market and makes other channels less willing to invest money and / or risk the time slot for other MMA organizations to be aired. This is a big deal because not being on TV was basically the death blow to PRIDE.
Updates
UFC 74: AUGUST 25, 2007 IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
-Thales Leites has replaced the injured Lutter
UFC 78: NOVEMBER 17, 2007 IN NEWARK, NJ
-Frankie Edgar vs TBA
-Kenny Florian vs TBA
(I wouldn't be surprised if they fight each other for a contender spot)
a reliable source at SD is saying...
UFC 77
-Tim Sylvia vs. Brandon Vera
Love to see it if true...
Vera needs his contract to expire to get away from his manager at City Boxing.
So the timing fits.
Have you seen much of Edgar??![]()
He already did![]()

But, he is still beholden to him financially for a finite time. Not sure exactly how long but the timing of that fight is the general time I believe.
UFC 76 - Machida vs Nakamura...good stuff!!
http://ufcjunkie.com/2007/08/02/lyot...et-for-ufc-76/
UFC 76's card is complete...Tanner vs Eastman added...
What a card!!![]()
-Chuck Liddell (#3 LHW) vs Keith Jardine
-Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (#1 LHW) vs. Forrest Griffin
-Diego Sanchez (#6 WW) vs. Jon Fitch (#7 WW)
-Tyson Griffin vs Thiago Tavares
-Ryoto Machida vs Nakamura
-Evan Tanner vs Marvin Eastman
-Jason Lambert vs. Wilson Gouveia
-Matt Wiman vs Michihiro Omigawa
-Justin McCully vs Christian Wellisch
I would rather swap Liddell with Nakamura or Machida and have the other fight Jardine.
