At the end of the 07-08 season is when they calculate the lux tax
Elliott has two god damn T's
At the end of the 07-08 season is when they calculate the lux tax
They haven't dropped Spannoulis, so they aren't signing anyone.
Totals: $68,375,495
dropping Spannoulis: $66,431,495
What is so hard to understand about what they are trying to do?
By waiting it out and letting Portland and Memphis sign other players, they have driven his asking price down. Typical Spurs off-season play.
at this point, i think the guy is about to announce his retirement.
Initially Spurs & Grizz only teams that had expressed interest...Grizzlies announced signing of Casey Jacobson today and stated they have reached max amount of players to begin 07-08 season
Could be Udoka agent wanted 3 yr deal and is now losing leverage...
I think they are actually one player over at this point.
I thought we were rumored to be offering a 3 yr deal to him anyway?
I don't know, I get tired of the waiting game really fast when it comes to FAs. Over the years, I've gotten used to people saying how much they would love to play for the Spurs and they are offered an ok deal and just wait, and wait, and wait... until someone offers the extra year and they're gone to the great Grizz treams of the NBA.
They aren't doing us any favors. They don't want to come, screw 'em. Like Timmy once said, "We'd love to have you, but we don't NEED you".
we're in late july and basketball season doesn't start until late october anything can happen between now and then.![]()

Spurs are going to be team endorsed by old people-related remedies and products of all kinds.
nice zappa pic
i will love ... everyone ...
not sure if i really want udoka anymore. i mean the guy is so damn torn leaving portland..then him!! if he really thinks stayin at home and playing for a team that will not win a ring anytime soon then let him do that..give me someone who is dedicated to winning..he isnt showing me that...winning doesnt seem to be a top priority for this guy at the moment...
They havent addressed their needs for youth on the wings and dealt 2 young bigs for to a divisional rival. This roster isnt getting any younger. Now kindly shut the up rookie.
This take wouldn't be all that compelling if you'd posted it only once.
So anything yet?
Jacobsen signed with the Grizz, so they have reached the number of roster spots they have said they where going to bring into camp.
According to an NBA source, Memphis has finalized an agreement with Casey Jacobsen on a one-year deal.
Jacobsen hasn't played in the NBA since 2004-05, but he fills a team need as a perimeter scoring threat. This signing will take the Memphis roster up to 13, which is the maximum it plans to begin the season with, according to GM Chris Wallace.

So where does that leave Udoka?

hiding from the mob thanks to this ref dude?
They won a championship with the oldest roster in the league. The 2 young bigs Butler sucks and Scola is yet to complete his buyout from his european team so he might be stuck with that team. What young talented wingman is going to sign for less money. What would take $20 million for 4 years or $9 million for 3 years? After next season they'll have money to spend when some contracts expire so were basically stuck with the same team. When the season tips off and the "old" champions raise the 2006-07 banner you'll be cheering like a little so you shut the up ! 2008 is when the real offseason begins when tim opts out and horry retires and bowen, barry, elson, udrih, finley contracts expire.![]()
Just because a team wins the championship doesn't mean the team is 100% perfect. There is no badge of honor or extra compe ive points for having the so-called "oldest team in the league". The Spurs have needed an infusion of at least 2 younger, cheaper players for about 2 years now - especially at the wing position.
We thought they satisfied that need last year with both Butler and White. Now they're gone. Splitter will replace Butler, but they have no developing perimeter player now that White is gone.
Look around you. The Western conference is an annual dogfight. Even the non-playoff teams (Seattle, Portland, Houston) have all got significantly better. The Spurs resigned their own free agents - a very good thing to do. Now it's time to look at another younger, impact player that can add value and keep us on top.
After all, no team can rest on its laurels and do nothing.
i think oberto has worked out the buyout and whatnot. i believe he is definitely coming to play for houston.
seems like it
damn, Spurs can't land ANYONE in SA
that's what i said. this has been a letdown offseason.
I don't understand. Robert Horry, Oberto, and Finley all agreed to comeback to the Spurs. They were all very important pieces in our championship run. Getting them back, itself, should warrant at least a grade B+. Sure, it's always better to upgrade, but what we have now...works. We won a championship.
Houston is a non-playoff team?![]()
They have made the postseason 3 out of 4 years with that 1 year being injury plagued. Nonetheless I agree with you that moves would have really helped. This rookie tends to think otherwise.

but i think anyone would agree that our road to it was significantly easier than going through phoenix and then the mavs and then ... well, the east sucks, but maybe the heat or pistons may have presented better matchup problems for the spurs. i didn't honestly think we'd make it past the mavs, and if we come back with the same roster against them, i'm still not sure.
there really wasn't much out there in the right price range - spurs have little to no cap room.
