That Washington is back in the picture at all is a huge testament to his for ude. The guy's been through more basketball-induced misery than most players see in a lifetime. He choked against Louisville in a vital game, then bounced back to lead his team to a great season the next year. Then he declared for the draft, foolishly hired an agent, and wasn't drafted. Those are things that can break a player.
Instead, he's taken a year in Greece and fought his way back, and there's little doubt he'll be around the league for some time, even if at the end of benches. But is there any reason not to think he'll have a Jacques Vaughn-type career? I'm pretty impressed so far.
Cut Beno. He's not going to do anything this year. If you can't get a fifth round pick for him, cut him. He is what's called in the business world a 'sunk cost'. Just let it go... especially when keeping him winds up costing something worthwhile. Simply having a gutsy guy at the end of the bench, instead of a fat slob, can pay dividends.
