Suns have no plans on playing defense once again. They will never learn. Then end result won't change either. Just run up and down the floor. Score as fast as you can. No championship for them in sight! D'antoni needs to go. What an idiot.
ya i noticed that too. D'Antonio probably told Hill if you dont shoot at least 5 3's a game you gonna sit on the bench. They need to use Hills slashing ability to give the offense a different look, instead of hanging out in the corner as a spot up 3pt shooter.

LMAO @ this thread.....Didn't the Grizz just put up 101 on a Championship team the other night.
I guess the Spurs just don't play good defense anymore.
The Suns held the Sonics to 41.5% shooting which is A LOT lower than what the Spurs were able to keep the Blazers or Grizzlies to (47% and 50% respectively).
The Suns biggest problem last night was rebounding.
If you look at the stats only, then you are correct. If you watch the games you will see how the teams scored their points. I watched the first half and saw layups, dunks and other easy baskets by both teams. That just does not happen to teams like the Spurs. Pop will not allow it. I did not see the Memphis game but I am quite sure the Spurs did not allow that, did they?
Well you just admitted that you didn't watch the second half where the Suns held the Sonics to 43 points or the Memphis game where Memphis was able to get almost any shot they wanted the entire game....so your opinion is pretty useless.
I guess we will see won't we? It will not take long to see how serious they want to play defense. We will find out who is wrong.
My observation was that Spurs fans were foolish for laughing at the Suns' poor defense when the numbers show the Suns played better defense than the Spurs played in any of their first two games.
Time will not tell if this observation is true. I can tell you right now, for a fact, that the Suns played better defense in their opener than the Spurs did in either of their first two games.![]()
Spurs were playing a back to back against a better team than the Sonics.
The Suns d was pretty ty throughout. They were lucky to win that game. And the Spurs are averaging 99 points against them right now, the same amout that the Sonics scored, so I dont know where this obvious proof they played better d was.
or how about defensive efficiency?

San Antonio still playing at a much slower pace...yet giving up the same amount of points:

After 1 game pulling this?![]()
Way to prove a point that the Suns can have better defensive stats through 1 game than the Spurs have through 2. Yea, superior d![]()
Reading comprehension still obviously eludes you.
I didn't say the Suns were a better defensive team...I was laughing at Spurs fans for taking shots at the Suns D when so far, the Spurs D has been worse.
I forsee 50 pt games by Oberto if da suns keep that gaping wide hole open under the basket.
Like DSF said though, it's the first game.
99 points to a team led by a rookie and Chris Wilcox. Yea, thats a incredible defense.
The Spurs are on pace to win twice as many games as the Suns right now, thats your logic right?![]()
Don't you get it?
YOU ARE AGREEING WITH ME!!!
Right. But we KNOW what the Spurs defensive ceiling is. Suns have yet to prove they can play defense for the entire game. They had some nice spurts on defense against the Spurs, rather fans want to admit it or not...but after that game last night it doesn't look like they are any more serious about D this year. But like you said it is the first game so these takes don't mean much.
I would agree on all counts.
Seriously, I can't think of another team in the NBA with less capability to have interior defense than the Suns. Not one. Sacramento is close but not close enough.
Chris Wilcox was playing like Amare Stoudamire against Amare Stoudamire last night
No numbers will tell anyone that this Suns team is anything different than what we've seen in the past few years. Same old, same old . It's fun and exciting to watch, but its crap at it's core and once again won't get them any further than before. All I saw was that D'Antoni thinks Grant Hill is some 3-pt ace when he's never been and that the Suns can be had as they have before. Nash does his thing, Stoudemire and Marion theirs. But there hasn't been some miraculous revolution in Phoenix. You'd have to remove D'Antoni's coaching mindset to accomplish that.
Doug Collins was really jocking the Suns last night. He also referred to the Sonics previous championships twice.
He's not as bad as Reggie Miller or Mike Fratello.
Okay whatever you say. I guess holding the Sonics to 41 percent shooting and 99 points is poor defense.
