Beno made two consecutive critical TOs late in the game. Some things never change.
Kind of hard when he only had one turnover the whole game.

Brad Miller had 2 late game turnovers (4 total) and Artest had 5.

Although Theus said Sunday that Francisco García will retain his starting spot, the long-term plan almost certainly will include the recently signed Udrih playing significant minutes even after Bibby returns in approximately two months.
    Actually, Beno started.

    Go Beno!

Looks like I found another starting guard on the waiver wire...

yeah...beno's success, although it's still early, is no real surprise. People have been saying here for a while that Beno will be successful on any team other than San Antonio.

With that said, there's no way I'd want him back here. That guy just doesn't belong on this team. It's a shame--and a waste of time, work, and money for us--but it's the truth.
Beno has skills. The Kings weren't the only team interested in him, and its been known he has the ability to be a solid starting point guard. Maybe not a good fit for the Spurs, and its not unknown that his work ethic wasn't the greatest...all though it wasn't as bad as some people on here would lead you to believe. It would have been interesting to see what happened if Pop didn't waste "time, work and money" with Nick Van Exel.

It would have been interesting to see what happened if Beno had actually been able to bring the ball up against Chuck Hayes..

I hated Nick Van Exel...not a fan of Beno either -- as a Spur...maybe it's the texas heat, maybe it's the brimming night life, I don't know...maybe it's the spurs uniforms draining his talent and competence out of him??

I have always (along with many other people on here, like I said) thought he would be a respectable player elsewhere and wish him the best.

If you ask me, I'd say Raja Bell would've been a better player to "waste time, work, and money" on.

On Beno's performance? Already did. Look one page up.

On the guy you quoted? You and he are opposite sides of the same coin.

Nice game by Beno, but Jaric & Telfair are even more useless than Beno.

Yeah, there was such overwhelming interest in Beno that the Spurs had to pay someone more than his salary to take him in return for nothing.

Never said it was "overwhelming" just giving you the facts...I don't really give a what happens to him. But good for him for getting off to good start in Sactown.

I agree. If Beno becomes the next Steve Nash, I still think the Spurs made the right move. He was done in San Antonio and the only way for him to do anything was to go to a new team.

It was one of the rare times that selling a player when their value was at their lowest actually made sense.

Really? So you think Pop playing Van Exel to a ridiculous fault didn't stunt his maturation process in becoming a PG? His second season in and he wasn't doing that bad a job after a decent rookie season. Pop then decides to bring a NVE who couldn't have played for the ing Austin Toros, rides him all season long and into the playoffs. I have a feeling letting Beno have his ups and downs during the season would have had a bigger role in developing his game instead of bringing in a worthless NVE.

The thing that is funny is everyone bags on him because of his off the court partying etc....Which I'm not defending at all, you wanna stay in the league, hoops comes first. But, alot of people are forgetting that his second season would have brought a great deal of development to his game and it basically went to waste.

I think you missed my point completely.

To paraphrase our former leader O:
Don't hold onto facts like a drunk holds on to fence

    And the fact is:
I wrote this after Utah game
I'm sticking with what I said.

And nights like this don't help me much

I never said that he is Magics second coming but he was and he still is a decent PG.
I've been raising my voice against mobbing that is going on on this board.
And I just love those no name morons with no talent who are just jealous that a little white guy from SLOuweeviasihqenia made it, and they didn't.

At the end he was even guilty for breaking his finger!?
And don't give me that crap about talent without work ethics.
If that would be the truth then Pop wouldn’t sign him at the first place.
Or all of you “mobbers” think that Pop is an idiot?

Don't worry I got pissed with Beno too. But there is criticism and there is just blind mob hatting, trashing and blatant stupidity.
Beno didn't pan out for Spurs, and I'm sorry for that. He didn't meet the expectations so he got sacked. No biggie.
But he is gone for how long?
And still there are, I don't know, 10 threads about him! Whats up with that infatuation?

There is no other reasonable explanation then jealousy (for having more fun with ladies) and hate.

    I guess you do.
I never defended Beno per Beno himself as much as I argued about some (for my taste) unacceptable behavior. And yes, I am more sensitive about it because he is my countryman. But in all this years following this board I never witnessed such massive campaign against any other player on this board.

And I never heard anything bad about him from the Spurs.
Pop criticized his game from time to time, but that is his job, he is a coach.
He never missed practices, never caused problems in public...

    And he was trashed for:
-He played ty game against Pistons (yeah, I know, you can find even 10 more ty games)! Like nobody else had ty games during that same time.
-He is fat and lazy. I would like to see some proof for that. He looks pretty fit to me, considering his time off.
He was clubbing to much (was he)!? Dude is 25!
He created his own mySpace page. God, how could he? He is alone, 10000 miles from his home and friends in some foreign country, and he don't have Eva Longoria to keep him company. Lets trash him for that too.

Yeah, lets trash him for all good reasons!

    Therein lies the problem.

As can be seen in other threads, people actually put forth arguments as to why they dislike Beno.

    Case in point:

Van Axel didn't screw beno chances up, beno did.
This person presented an abbreviated argument about why he believes Beno was no longer fit to be on the Spurs.

If you disagree with those, feel free to argue against them all you want.

    The guy you quoted, however:

The guys a little pussy... it pains me whenever he has a good game.... a soft little euro like that doesn't deserve to have the joy of doing what he does
This person is not giving an argument - just saying that he dislikes Beno. What are you going to argue against there?

Don't be too sensitive to every negative comment here about Beno. Argue against the points other people make about the subject, but don't take it personally if someone says he hates the guy.

After all, like you yourself said:

I'm not here to win a popularity contest. I just call it as I see it. If you don't like it, it's your problem. And the same goes other way around.

Beno have some flaws but eh has too some qualities. He isn't at all the worst PG in the league.
I was fine with Beno as 3rd string PG for Spurs. However, Spurs were right to move him because they saved a lot of money by doing that and because their third string PG is an interesting prospect instead of a player with no future with Spurs.

Bottom line: Beno was given more second chances than any other player in the Popovich Era. He blew them all, primary due to lack of effort, and secondarily to lack of production. Good riddance.

i'm sure most of the people here dislike beno for giving up. he lost all interest in breaking the rotation and just enjoyed his time here. while all of us wished that he would exert more effort and improve himself and his game, he, instead, embraced his role as a 3rd string. which is what pisses off the posters here.

its good to see him thriving (for the moment) at the Kings. however, the situation will change once Bibby comes back. will Beno fight for his spot or will he vegetate into his back-up status once more?

Pop isn't stupid. He plays people that give a damn about playing good. And if beno would give a damn, he would outplay van axel and vaughn. I mean its not like they were at the peak of their games, one retired and one is playing his final year(s). And you are talking about beno's confidence being ruined? After reading all those interviews he made, i think his problem is to much confidence. If he would have been smart he would shut up and try his best to suck it up to pop at practice and use any playing time good. He didn't.
And i just watched beno against utah. I counted 3 or 4 travelings, atleast 3 TO that didn't go on his statsheet, but was acountable for and the main thing - he didn't care about it. That is what is bothering me, he doesn't care about his team.
