hey, did the "other" sports station say anything about espn being in sa now? Any people or callers on the other one say anything like "nah, we're still sold on the ticket and are loyal listeners". I think that a lot of traffic got taken away from ticket.
Out of the 5 listeners only 3 went to ESPN so they still have two.
Waiting patiently for a ...an nba head coach show.
p.s. An alternative to the supposed post spurs game show would be very nice.
I fondly remember tuning in after games to get good game feedback and thoughts...hmm...if Timvp has radio chops, his game thoughts would make a nice segment to a post game show.

Bottomline (no, not Johnny Bottomline): KORI and MOUSE kicked ass. Kori was an outstanding guest and Mouse reestablished himself as the Greatest Fu*king Caller in The History of Sports Talk.
It's always been my philosophy that Spurstalk.com is not only our target audience, but also our primo source for show guests.
Having started back at WOAI and learning firsthand how message board sports fans are the most engaged, informed and passionate, I always wanted to do a sports show that accesses and compliments the WWW. SpursTalk.com has emerged as the best and it's cool to have so many of you participating in what we're constructing at ESPN 1250.
It's a work in progress and we'll continue to seek your input and participation.

I just went on spursreport for the first time. What a bunch of envious and gigantic bags. I've tormented too many on spurstalk.com for far too long, spursreport deserves a johnsmith for a while.

Are you serious? This is the best you could do? Frankly, I'm not even an NBA fan, but I'll root for the Nuggets first and foremost and the Spurs second because honestly, I've probably been to more spurs games then I have any other sports team other then the Rockies and Broncos at this point.
But hey, if you want to make a hater out of me, then fine...............the Spurs are on the downside of their "dynasty" and when Duncan retires, the Spurs won't be a contender for a looooonnnnngggg time because no self respecting NBA star wants to live in San Antonio.

From an insider's point of view, it never got brought up at all.
I mean, the worst thing a station can do is give free pub to a compe or. Even if it's to put them down.
KTSA has done a fair share of that over the years, and I'm sure it won't stop with ESPN.
WOAI is a very good station, and continues to dominate KTSA in the ratings each and every year. The same will go will the Ticket.
The problem that ESPN will have is not the programming. Which I believe it good programming, it's the fact that I don't think they will promote themselves enough.
Any the poster quoted said....I bet Ticket lost a lot of their share.
Truthfully, if our listeners don't read message boards, or didn't catch Jakle's article, they would have no idea that ESPN is in town.
Soon, by word of mouth, they may here, but you guys have more knowledge about the station than 80% of the San Antonio public.
If they wanted to make a big push they would have tactical marketing dollars spent to put up billboards in town, run commercials in Sports on TV....etc.
But, just like Ticket, the ESPN station is a part of a cluster of stations. And a Sports Station in San Antonio will always take a back seat to the bigger stations when it comes to marketing and promotions.
People are going to switch back and forth depending on what show they like best. Although, I'm still baffled why they would put Paul against Rome.
If anything, I would have put Paul from 9 to 11. Therefore kinda of giving them a local morning show.
Just my 2 cents.
Regardless, I still like working for the Ticket/WOAI!
I agree with Pete, ESPN has done a horrible job of promoting itself except for the efforts of Duehl.
Based on what I've read in here about them, I'll be banned by the end of the day.
What i don't get is the show that ESPN went to after the CD show made no mention of his show and did not welcome the San Antonio audience like Tony Bruno and JT do.
I wonder if they are just using Chris to help get them on the map and then toss him to the side and use a low paying host like Vexler.
