i think season 5 was the worst of the show. dorne sucked. the sons of the harpy got tired. the house of black and white was surprisingly boring (except for the meryn trant scene).
only redeeming qualities were hardhome and tyrion/jorah plot with tyrion finally meeting daenerys . sparrows were hit and miss.
season 6 was a great rebound though
season 7 was a cluster but was still action packed and overall fun to watch. more fan service than great writing, but i still enjoyed it.
want to expand on season 7 though... that was fun regardless of the writing flaws.
- dont tell me that seeing gendry again wasn't great. ing davos was dropping memes when he said "i thought you were still rowing." then gendry picking up a warhammer instead of a sword.
- seeing dragons in combat for the first time (not counting the end of season 6 since that wasnt exactly a battle)
- euron's attack on the fleet, and theon throwing away his redemption arc was brutal to watch, but good writing tbh
- jon/daenerys interactions were very well done
- bran being a creeper was entertaining. especially when he dropped the chaos/ladder quote on littlefinger
i think there are two very valid criticisms
1) the arya/sansa tension. that never felt believable at all.
2) i'm NOT going to say its the whole plan to capture a wight, and the fact that ravens travel faster than the speed of light. because i dont give a , it led to one of the better spectacles and moments in the show. i'm ok with any ty writing that leads us to the equivalent of seeing the avengers assemble. what i WILL criticize is that they completely ed up a golden opportunity to do this. completely unforgivable in my book
Season 7 as a whole wasn’t great, but definitely had some great moments, I can agree with that. “Battle of the bas s” was a fun battle, watching that pos get what was coming felt nice, mainly because the show let his character become unbelievably powerful/smart.
Actually getting to finally see the dragons in battle was fantastic as well.
the wight hunt was one of the low points imo. I’m all for getting to a good battle scene, but that was just so forced and unbelievable that it was hard to enjoy.
it is nice to get to see a lot of the storylines wrapping up and the buildup of previous seasons finally paying dividends
battle of the bas s was season 6 tho, in the penultimate episode.
season 6 finale had daenerys dragons ing up the slave cities, cersei blowing up the scept, and jon getting the king in the north chants thanks to the mormont mvp girl
Yea I couldn’t remember if it was 6 or 7 tbh. The Lannister army vs Dani’s army and dragons was great entertainment.
i forgot about the dumb blowing up the sept tbh. One of the dumber plot lines.
as much as I complain I will be watching every episode of season 8 tbh. I’m curious how it will end at this point especially since the books may never be finished.
The fact that noone in thirty years walked into the basement of the sept and noticed 1,000 cases of dragon fire. What's not believable about that?
I always interpreted that as they moved a hidden cache of dragonfire into that location for that specific plot. Maybe i was giving the show too much credit![]()
That's exactly what happened. King Aerys had dragonfire stashed all over the city as he was going to burn King's Landing down when it was invaded, which is what ultimately led to Jamie killing him.
wildfire not dragonfire noobs
I don't think the wildfire was just sitting around in plain sight for over twenty years, and Cersei just lit a match.
rewatching the series for the first time. a few episodes into the 5th season and the harpy is already drawn out.
The Danaeyrs plot should have been condensed and more time given to Westeros plots. was taxing to get through at times.
yep, harpies were a drag
Let's fire this thread up. 12 Days to go and the latest teaser just dropped.
Night king done ed up winterfell. RIP Longclaw
2 days away
Curious to know why HBO hasn't released the le of each episodes yet. Dont know if this is how it's always been done but I dont think so.
Holy . For some reason I thought we were a week or two away. I'm going to have to go into hibernation for a while to avoid spoilers. I'm going to be out of town for a while and I won't get a chance to start this until I get back (may try to wait until it's over).
There's also Endgame and Cobra Kai I have to watch.
That was one short ass episode...
I nearly died with that kid on the wall. Mother er gave me such a jump scare.
So much for every episode being 2 hours long.
I didn't even notice til my girl said something, then I had the same reaction as you![]()
