I think OKC lost. Vertical says they gave up Payne too.
From a win-now perspective? Taj > Payne with Russ playing a ton of minutes and Payne not doing much so far. But long-term? Decent gamble by Bulls to see if Payne truly is starter quality for a big who's good but clearly hit his ceiling and is due another deal next year.

Paul George might be a better fit for Boston, but Butler has been the far better player this year with worse supporting cast..

    What an eye opener.
Bulls should hold on to him.

    Gar-Pax are horrible...

Pacers, while it may hurt PG's value some, can trade PG next year or during draft as well. I get BOS not making moves for the same reason on the other side of the equation.

But damn, these idiots out East scared to build a team to compete with CLE. Sucks.

I like what every single team in our division did to varying degrees. They all improved and some (NO) have insane ceilings.

Ya, maybe if you know for a fact that he'll take a long-term deal, but it sounds like he's going to the Lakers within the next 2 years according to virtually every credible source, so far..
Yeah. Plenty of time for him change his mind, but if a guy wants to go home, that can be a powerful motivator. See: Carmelo Anthony.

Yeah, I think OKC did themselves a real solid. Both Taj and McDermott are likely to do well there.

Why would Spurs fans want Noel? I like his game, but the Spurs already have 5 quality bigs The entire foundation of the team is built around the bigs..
Bc of the troll and schtick game...

They would also give up what depth the team has at the wings and the draft pick for him... so good luck playing manu 30 minutes etc... and bringing up flotsam from the dleague. Likely Garino and others....

then Noel needs to be paid in the offseason and the Spurs are basically in the same situation Philly was this season with a glut of bigs and no perimeter players.

    The armchair GM of spurtalk!

butler is under contract for three more seasons. the bulls are a mess.

    george still has two.

really disappointed that rose/rubio deal didn't happen. and they kept melo. can't help but feel bad for porzingis. the two are stunting his growth.

atlanta ed up by waiting too long to be willing to trade their players. and their plan is to try to resign millsap this summer for what? so they can be in the same place are now?

while the pelicans, rockets, thunder got better.

    playoff seeding should be #1-#16.

    - Noel to Mavericks is good news on Dedmon front. I had they pegged as the team most likely to make him an exorbitant offer.

    - Nice trade by Cuban-Nelson, to get a starting center, who fits well with Nowitzki, for either a 19th or worse 1st or 2 2nds and Anderson, who had become expendable with emergence of Finney-Smith

    - Colangelo was in tough spot and probably did as well as possible, but still an underwhelming return, though Anderson could end up in the mold of Crowder/Tucker

    - Excellent work by Ujiri to once again fill a need, at a good price. Top end (mainly DeRozan) isn't good enough to win championship, but roster balance is no longer an issue

    - Terrible job by Ainge. Getting George for 2 runs would have increased odds of keeping him from bolting to Lakers. They need to stop acting as if they're sitting on future dynasty and get him or Butler in off season

    - Terrible job by Forman-Paxson, but good job by Presti, to get much needed wing shooter/scorer, plus upgrade starting power forward (though a Adams-Gibson-Roberson frontline provides zero spacing), for backup point guard and fourth big

Winner, me the owner of some good tickets to the Spurs/Pacers game. I picked those tickets because I thought it would be great to see the Kawhi/George duel (after also choosing Bucks tickets to see the Greek v. Kawhi...but that failed miserably).

Cameron Payne has got to be one of the worst NBA players I've ever seen play. Sure, there have been worse players, but he came to the Thunder with high expectations and just completely sucked. The funny thing is, he thinks he's good. HE'S BEEN AWFUL. While most Thunder players found another level against the Spurs in the playoffs, that dude just consistently the bed. Lol. Good luck Chicago.

    Good recap.

Oh yeah, Suns... standing virtually pat?!?!
    I
only saw a tweet here that they tried to move Knights horrible contract but they still wanted a pick (high 2nd) and an expiring contract. Heh!
Someone (baam) remarked they probably need to be the ones sending out a pick for someone to take Knight in.

How many starting guards around the league have passed through Phoenix? Then the debacle of the Morris twins. Team is a train wreck, and there is no light at all at the end of that tunnel. As a Spurs fan who can remember when the Suns were serious compe ion, I really feel sorry for that fan base.

I would much rather have Terrence Jones over Bogut in the event of a buyout. Dream scenario would be both Jones and Tyreke get bought out and Spurs waive Anthony and Forbes to obtain them.
