Walker should be fine getting his shot off at the NBA level. Anyone who thinks he doesn't have any NBA-caliber skills hasn't watched his floor game. He's a guy who really has to become "solid" so that his more superlative traits can shine.
hope so. we could really use him next year.

To me Walker is a younger/shorter version of DEROZZ in that they both can take it to the rim and have great mid range game. But yet both are not great defensive players or shoot the 3 ball good at this point in Spurs career

Shots and ball handling look good and seem to be in the flow. Spurs need his athleticism. I hope they call him up

I'm nowhere near an expert on shooting form, but Huestis looks like he has a decently quick release and high release point. Nothing elite, but should be good enough for open looks.

But the numbers don't lie, he's a low 30s 3PT% shooter over a large sample. With Pop's emphasis on taking only good 3s, Huestis would have to be A+ on defense to get any meaningful minutes.

Exactly. This is also why you shouldn't put much stock into video montages. They'll never post all those 0-3s or 0-4s that bring his average down to where it is. If the Spurs are to develop a forward, it should be Ben Moore. He's a much better shooter, and a BEAST on the glass. He's also younger.

Yeah I really like Ben Moore he has made adjustments playing more Center in college then PF/SF. But he is younger has better hops and just plays within the team very Pop kinda guy works hard and doesn’t complain. Hey was not drafted but was picked up by Indiana and was decent in games he played in. I am going to go on a limb and say they sign him this summer. And if he can stalk Chip all summer and continue to work on his 3 he could really help us out next year.

Finally, some decent percentages. Call him up! Isn't there an open slot with Pau gone?

Looks like Chip is gonna have a busy summer with Murray, Walker and possibly another rookie or two needing to work on their threes

Anyone been noticing Lonnie’s improvement?? He’s been getting super efficient, and is really developing a feel for the game. He’s being smarter when to attack, make easy cuts for buckets and using his athleticism. That step back mid range is money. His three ball will fall into place too. I love his potential.

I agree he seems more confident and is starting to let things come to him you can tell the game is slowing down for him. If his improvement continues I can see him eating into Mills/Forbes/Belli minutes around all star week I am curious though how good his defense will be?

Once we swap out Cunningham & pondexter for Moore and Huestis next year things will really open u athletically/defensively. I still would like to bring Stanley Johnson in too.....

What’s the hard on with Johnson? I used to really see potential in him but the more i watch him, the less attractive a prospect he is. Plus he thinks he’s 10 times better than he really is.

Under Pop, I think he could really thrive. He has skill but his development hasn’t been handled correctly I’m thinking.

I don't think Huestis will make it out of camp, assuming they invite him again. He'll turn 28 before the year is out, and he's so far behind Moore, who turns 24 in May.

BBref shows 10 contracts for next year. Assuming you want Rudy back, that's 11. Two first rounders takes you to 13. If you want Eubanks on the big club, that's 14, leaving one slot for either Moore or Huestis. BTW, they don't show Metu on the books for next year at all. If you want him, either Moore or Eubanks can't be with the big club.

I believe we will stash 2 of the three selections and/or attach players to picks to open up space. Huestis had a major foot issue but I think they like his potential

the meniscus tear was really the setback that prevented him from ever really getting the opportunity to see any real time on the court this season. i certainly hope that he can carry his g-league success over to the summer league, stay healthy and then get a shot at cracking the rotation next season.

i'm with you and that ankle sprain when white was injured, he could have played a little bit with the big club. What we saw of him is really encouraging , he could have struggled even in g league.
