Spurs must have been in super secret mode. Normally, even if they don't make a move, you get a few tidbits about some surprising inquiries (either for SA players or by SA themselves). Has not been a damn mention of SA really

I would much rather have Terrence Jones over Bogut in the event of a buyout. Dream scenario would be both Jones and Tyreke get bought out and Spurs waive Anthony and Forbes to obtain them.
I have nothing against them and no real attachment to Anthony or Forbes.. but these guys... you have to think in terms of who in the rotation, which minutes they are getting. If you can't envision anyone in the rotation you would rather displace for them there really is no point in them displacing marginal players 13th to 15th. Maybe Tyreke has a spot over Simmons, that is it.

I am not opposed to this, but to displace guys who really don't play most of the season.. that makes no sense.. not even for the FA you want to join the team. They need playing time to earn their next deal. I would not want to get over to the Spurs and be hoping to get in the game in garbage time with the Spurs youngsters. If that is really what these guys are looking at right now they are not joining the Spurs.

Both Jones and Tyreke are going to want playing time.

Sure, but having depth is a great thing with aging AND unproductive guards like TP/Manu (much of the time). Then from the frontcourt, Gasol is older, Anthony has no reason to be on the team and Jones is about versatility.

I can see why Jones/Tyreke might not choose SA but SA should definitely choose them even if they don't end up playing a second. They are wayyyyyyy better than Forbes/Anthony.

However, it's moot since it looks like Tyreke, despite SAC having Buddy and all the other guards is staying put.

For Jones, the reason he asked .. asked.... to be waived is so that he could get a rotation spot elsewhere.
Tyreke has been brittle himself lately. He's had multiple surgeries recently and is less durable than even the old guards you mention and he's going to want playing time too.

Anyways... I don't see either in the Spurs.

This is so funny because is the ing true

People say Spurs fans are spoiled but man, think of all the fat, old and lazy players, including the one currently active, that we have had to endure. Why people don't talk about that?

Really annoying watching our compe ors fortify while Spurs can't even remotely shore-up their glaring weakness-- one that's been lingering with lack of dynamic play-makers in the back-court post-2014....Haven't even come-up with bandaid solution there..

has no problem scoring against the Spurs bench TBH and Gibson is no cookie.
    ... good move for OKC...
McDermott can give us problems if Pop lets Manu 20 minutes on him instead of playing more Simms/Kyle, also Gibson can work well with Westbrook in P&Rs.

It's never good news when your 1st round rival improves a bit.

Some of us believe Pop HAS the solution. He just needs to force feed him as he once did Tony.

Cousins, Butler, L. Williams were the top 3 on my list for trade. The first two were long shots/no shots, but I wonder if Williams was attainable? He very well might have been. ing Spurs. 3 of the top 5 contenders upgraded, while Spurs did nothing.

but Lou can't space the floor

Rockets got him for Brewer (TRASH) and a late 1st rnd pick.
Spurs probably could've gotten him for Mills, Anderson, and a 2nd rnd pick

I would prefer to keep that 1st round pick. The new CBA makes picks/rookie contracts very valuable, especially for teams that draft and develop players well. Don't see Lou Williams being much of an upgrade over Mills and he's worse than Bonner when it comes to playoff shooting % drop.

Additionally, taking on his salary would mean the Spurs would significantly reduce their ability to keep Dedmon in the summer, should an offer over the MLE be needed.

Yeah but the system. The system is so complicated and so detailed. You don't know how hard the system is to learn.

It's wouldn't be fair to bring anyone in and play them over others who have been learning the system for two years already. .

I guess I'm on the Tyreke Evans wagon. Hopefully, he gets bought out and the Spurs get him.

Also, I'd rather Terrance Jones (has he been waived or bought out?) instead of Joel Anthony, but I doubt he's going to want to come here and possibly be buried on the bench.

I sure as hope the Spurs didn't pass up on any trades thinking they're going to sign up players that have been bought out.
