US senator Chris Van Hollen has demanded an immediate investigation into events and said “[Donald] Trump’s ICE operations are not about making our country safer, they are about creating chaos and instilling fear in our communities”.

Tatiana Santos, of the activist network Indivisible Frederick Forward, said that the ICE conduct she witnessed was “unconscionable”.

“These people were so peaceful in the defense of their immigrant neighbors. They were simply standing and chanting things like: ‘We shall not be moved,’” she said.

mass deportation is harmful to US seniors

Roughly one in three home care workers and one in five nursing home workers are immigrants, according to research from Harvard, the Massachusetts Ins ute of Technology and the University of Rochester. The same researchfound that, when the immigrant population increases in a metro area, elderly mortality in long-term care facilities measurably declines. This is because a larger immigrant population expands the overall pool of available caregivers rather than displacing native-born workers from a fixed number of jobs.

Additional research analyzed by the Kaiser Family Foundationshows that immigrants make up about 30 percent of direct long-term care workers overall, and 41 percent of home health aides. Further, a significant rise in a given community’s immigrant population decreases the likelihoodthat an elderly person will be moved into an elder care facility at all, as immigrant caregivers often make it possible for older Americans to remain safely and receive care in their own homes.

When legal immigration pathways are disrupted, facilities lose trained staff overnight, and residents pay the price in broken continuity of care. In an interview with PBS, a senior care leader described facilities losing between 16 and 40 workers overnight when protections such as temporary protected status have lapsed. This occurred not because those workers had done anything wrong, but because their legal status expired and there was no pathway to renew or reapply.

A loss on that scale does not give a facility time to recruit and train replacements before the next shift. The immediate response is almost always for each staff member to absorb more residents, which is precisely the staffing dilution that is a common thread in elder abuse and neglect cases.

This is happening at a moment when the population needing care is growing faster than the workforce that provides them with care. It is pushing facilities toward a staffing crisis that the industry is poorly positioned to absorb. The fallout from these losses is systemic and devastating for the people caught in the middle, as care teams that residents had come to trust are broken apart and residents are forced to adjust to unfamiliar caregivers who do not yet know their needs or history.

Even skilled, well-trained caregivers become less effective under these conditions, because quality care depends on having enough time with each resident to understand their needs and potential risks, not just rely on credentials to do the job. This leaves facilities in a position where they must consider reducing the number of beds they can safely staff or, in some cases, close entire wings of facilities.

Legal immigration pathways are critical to the elder care infrastructure. Providing quality care to the seniors who depend on skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities requires treating adequate staffing and continuity of care as a critical part of the elder care infrastructure.

large groups of National Guard members and federal agents appeared outside Bruce-Monroe Elementary School in the Park View neighborhood of Northwest Washington as children arrived for the school day
    .

occupations of entire cities communicate a message long sent to Black and brown teens but deafeningly loud right now, that your existence is suspect, likely criminal. Tanks and armed soldiers in the streets broadcast to those children and their younger siblings: Your country is at war with you

badmotorscooter asked me if I had any reason to think BPS did anything wrong

    The video answers it

BPS sideswiped Marimar Martinez's car because Charles Exum wanted to get aggro, then shot her five times for no reason -- twice from the side and once from behind

Exum immediately drove the car out of state and had the car repaired

Then DHS lied in court about what happened, pressing assault charges on Martinez

The charges were eventually dropped by DOJ, but that didn't stop DHS/FBI for continuing to call Martinez a terrorist

Now the evidence comes out and people can see for themselves that DHS lies and DOJ carries those lies faithfully to federal criminal courts
it was a bad shoot, dhs smeared the victim, ICE lied and DOJ brought bogus charges

Homeland Security officials quickly labeled Martinez a “domestic terrorist” after her run-in with Exum. Chicago U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros’ office also brought charges against her of assaulting a federal agent — only to drop those charges 46 days later.

Still, Martinez’s lawyers say a trove of evidence from that prosecution shows Exum lied to justify shooting Martinez.

“Who’s the real domestic terrorist?” Parente asked at the news conference, after presenting some of the evidence.

The Illinois Accountability Commission concluded in April that Exum “shot an unarmed civilian without apparent justification”; that “evidence was deliberately tampered with and destroyed”; and “federal agents produced materially inaccurate official reports.”

Martinez had a firearm with her that day, but it was inside a bright pink holster at the bottom of her purse, and the holster was snapped shut, court records show.

Trump is inciting a pogrom on ~80,000 US citizens in Minnesota alone

The percentage of Minnesotans with Somali ancestry who are not citizens dropped from 76% in 2001 to 9% in 2023, as estimated by the American Community Survey.

NYC calling out Trump's racial terror goons

ICE just kicked the wrong hornet's nest

"Today ICE shot a New Yorker on our streets. He had a child in his car. And even as details remain unknown, this wasn’t an outlier or an aberration. This is fully in line with ICE’s mission of terrorizing immigrant communities. Fully expected when agents are more armed than they are trained, more directed toward public brutality than public safety.

"I expect and call upon the city to release any footage or information collected from the scene that can shine light on the actions of this agency that shields itself with masks and impunity.
"Speaking to members of the Marble Hill community on the scene, I hear their fear, and their anger. They know, we all know, that ICE is not making our city safer. And of course, they know that was never the intention.

"I also hear their resolve, their commitment to stand by our immigrant neighbors under attack. They belong in our city – ICE does not."

Remarkable how consistently the Trump administration has adopted the aesthetics of mass shooters, from their schizophrenic social media aesthetic to livestreamed executions to masked men with long guns roaming our streets with impunity. Nihilist violent extremism as statecraft

the job of an ICE officer is dramatically safer than the job of a regular cop, such that not a single ICE deportation officer has been killed in the line of duty since 1949 (and that was actually a stabbing inside an INS jail in Hawaii, not street enforcement).

will be interesting to see if the guy ICE shot yesterday was the investigative target

A Trump-appointed federal judge ripped federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for giving false sworn testimony and records to justify the violent mistaken-iden y arrests of two men in the Bronx, one of whom was a U.S. citizen they mistook for an undo ented immigrant.

Long Island U.S. District Court Judge Gary Brown issued his fiery, 28-page ruling on Monday in the case of Dominican immigrant Angel Almonte, one of the two men arrested by the agents.

Brown called into question the agents’ claim that they busted Almonte by mistake, since the man they said they were actually targeting was five inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter.

Masked ICE agents arrested Almonte and a second man, Jeury Concepcion, in separate caught-on-video rough take-downs on May 6 in the Bronx, on Decatur and Hull Aves. Concepcion, who was slammed to the ground by masked agents with guns out, is a U.S. citizen.

covering up regime killings and crimes

Federal investigators in Minnesota abruptly stopped sharing evidence last month with state authorities investigating the fatal ICE shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

The move — which could hamper the state’s probe of the two killings by ICE agents — is the latest in a series of reversals that have frustrated Minnesota officials, with federal authorities repeatedly cooperating with state and local investigators before suddenly changing course and cutting off coopereration

Minnesota Truth Council Preliminary Report on Trump's lawless, antiamerican ethnic cleansing crackdown

This record establishes that federal immigration activities during Operation Metro Surge and Operation PARRIS violated the U.S. and Minnesota Cons utions and laid waste to due process and the rule of law. As Chair, throughout the public meetings, I heard Minnesotans speak to the violent, gratuitously cruel, inhumane, and deeply disturbing actions of federal agents on some of the shortest, coldest days of the year. From the killing of two Americans to the more than 70 Minnesota children detained between December 1, 2025, and March 10, 2026, and the $244 million in lost wages by workers in Minneapolis and Saint Paul alone, the harm was felt both broadly and deeply. Operation Metro Surge and Operation PARRIS produced a much wider social and economic shock across Minnesota. Fear, disruption, and the ensuing psychological trauma are substantive harms, not merely side effects. The impacts include school absences, lost wages, reduced health care access, business losses, and social isolation.

However, do enting harm is not only about creating a historical record; it can also be the foundation for understanding, acknowledgement, reform, accountability, and hope. What we have heard from Minnesotans affirms the fundamental belief in the goodness of people and their ability to help when they see a need. Parents drove childcare providers and teachers to school; neighbors pooled resources to cover rent; local businesses opened their doors to those in need. We witnessed the incredible depth and diversity of formal and informal emergency response systems across Minnesota and the scale at which they responded. These actions are so powerful. Solidarity is powerful. Minnesota’s response is a model to which the world can look to when facing the darkest of days, a model which we very well may need again. As the council heard, violations and abuses continue across Minnesota. The ongoing fear, threats of retribution and aggressive immigration enforcement by the federal government persist. We, as Minnesotans and Americans, are animated and motivated by rights and the law, and we will not cease to call on all to support and defend the Cons ution of the United States.

way before the case was ever presented to a grand jury...a high degree of political coordination according to ex-FBI guy DePodesta

In the lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of Illinois overseen by Boutros, DePodesta says President Donald Trump and other officials in Washington called for charges against those protesting the Midway Blitz deportation campaign last fall in the Chicago area.

In turn, Boutros brought “politically motivated prosecutions” that “were an unprecedented disaster” for his office, the lawsuit says. Boutros has adamantly denied that politics played any role in charging decisions.

When charges were dropped against the “Broadview Six” amid revelations of apparent prosecutorial misconduct, “Boutros began a campaign within the Department of Justice to blame DePodesta for the unraveling of the case.” Boutros’ complaints to superiors in Washington ultimately led to DePodesta’s ouster, the lawsuit says.
