Holy crap, I just remembered Podolski plays for Arsenal. Has the guy done anything worth mentioning the past month or so?

He's wasted on the wing. He isn't a winger, he's a striker. Basically, he's a CF playing wing. He could give you a good pass or two, but you won't see him beating defenders with pace or trickery. His best trait is his finishing. Thus, if you want to use him correctly, he should be in the box getting on the end of things. Due to Wenger's tactical inflexibility he's stuck out on the wing in a formation that's clearly not working. But continuing to play him on the wing in this faltering formation means he's on a hiding to nothing most of the time.


To put it short, IMO both Walcott and Podolski need to play centrally. Wilshere and Arteta would be more effective further up the pitch and Giroud needs wingers either side of him.

He did. But I think it's easier for him to play in the Germany NT with so many class players in the middle. Therefore, inevitably space does open up on the flanks. For Arsenal he would be best as a second striker. But that's just me...

vermalaen is in fact a mediocre defender just like i said many times before. his brain-dead mistake led to an early goal for manchester united and a similar mistake at the start of 2nd half nearly cost them another one. it ain't the first game of him to make such stupid mistakes imho
