40 minutes of withstanding the Italians is going to be a difficult task.
Your main problem isn't the goalie. So far in the Cup, the US has shown the creativity of a bricked wall, and the scoring touch of a nerd in his prom night.

Withouot a doubt our main problem isn't the goalie, but Keller isn't play as well as an American goalie needs to play in order to make up for this teams difficencies. Brad Friedel played very well in 02 and ws a huge reason the US advanced.

At some point, you gotta put in Johnson for Mcbride. You're not going to be able to hit McBride with crosses in the 2nd half.
Well, I agree to some extent. I even think Howard is a better goalie than Keller, but, if you expect to progress a lot in the Cup, your best player shouldn't be your goalkeeper (unless you are Italian or German).
Right now the match is complicated for the US, some dumb challenges after Italy was left with 10 men, they should have kept the ball with patience.
Now they have to hold the Italian attacks, which may be a good thing, they might lose some cover at the back, exposing their defense. Let's not forget that there are 17 players (-3 sent off, -2 goalies) covering the whole pitch.
I'd consider putting in Beasly for McBride and moving Donovan to the forward spot for more speed.
