If they try to use the race card they are finished, and they knoew it...Jales Rose just tryed some time ago and was immediately silenced.
Pop image is too much higher than Kiwhi's and his group to be compromised by someone that has just behaved like an obvious fraud...
I think that once the Kiwhi's group decided to go "personal", like tha way they talked of Pop and R.C. being "fools", then the organizaion thought it was the time to initiate to backfire...not against the player but against all this bull his "group" has talked by media about the entire narrative...

Now the line is different...and the evidence and public perception, despite all then tactics and bull we heard and see in these months by espn mainly, are obviously in the sense that the real story has just benn told the way it is by Wright...

Now his "group" can see that if they only pretend to go "personal" again against the f.o. they risk a backfire or holocaustic proportions...expecially now that has emerged that the entire Leonard family, his Mom included, is beiyng paid by the society that control Kiwhi's p.r....

I just hope his group realize that is time to retire and give up...or give Kiwhi some different advice...after all, till some time ago, Kiwhi was considered the perfect Spur. And imho he knows that the organization till now has treated him well...
David Robinson's comment was right on the mark: "LeBron doesn't sit around waiting for people to talk for him."

It's clear to me that Kawhi wants someone else to manage everything else other than basketball, but he's got his family that's got all sorts of unprofessional ideas of what's best for Kawhi. Spurs are actually the best organization in the NBA in taking care of players. But we got this family who have their own interest rather than his. The trip to China to me was a bit of a surprise, I didn't expect Kawhi to be the type who goes on a media tour.

Perhaps, the problem with the Spurs is that its such a good organization that Kawhi was protected for too long a time.

Don't know if this is posted in this thread, but check out the utter childish bull Leonard and his crew pulled.

    https://deadspin.com/report-kawhi-le...1827375550/amp

I probably shouldn’t say this, but I’m gonna say it because Kawhi is about to be outta there. There was a point during his rehab process in New York that some of the Spurs brass went out to see him in New York. As soon as those guys arrived to the building, Kawhi’s people grabbed him and sequestered him to another part of the building. And so the Spurs’ people couldn’t even see him.
I just read that. I'm not sure if true, but fits with everything. If true the Spurs have been extremely professional in all they have said publicly.

The relationship is irrepairable. The Spurs have shown no willingness to treat a modern superstar like any modern superstar.

Unless that changes, Dennis will not accept it.

Kawhis preference is to be traded so he cam build a name for himself.
Find a new hobby or go your aunt or something. You really have worn out your welcome, eric cisneros.

This clown is still under contract--if he doesn't want to play have him wear the coyote costume and pass out tshirts during half time or sue his ass for breach of contract.
He's right though...Spurs have no leverage left.
Controlling whether he can get 137M over 4 years or 188M over 4 years is leverage.

People who have money typically don’t have a need to tell people they have it.

And no idea how old you are, but 7 figures of net worth isn’t even that impressive unless you’re in your 20s or early/mid 30s.

How does that give you leverage? I'm not talking about Lakers-Spurs, I'm just talking about you guys having no leverage to get a decent package from ANY team, especially since Philly isn't willing to part with either of their two studs.

We all know it's a no-brainer that you won't get equal value in return, but it's also becoming clearer that as each day goes by and we learn of more and more stars who might be on the move in 2019, that nobody's going to offer you even a quasi-decent haul for Leonard.

You have no leverage, just be thankful for the scraps that you get from (insert team)...or be stubborn and let him walk for nothing in return

Agree with this to a degree. No one wants to give up valuable assets for a headache. It's not about health, resigning, etc. Its about Kawhi and his "camp/team/family".

Hypocrisy of it though, is that all of these teams wouldn't hesitate to sign up for the max in free agency ...

Well it's obvious Pop doesn't want to trade him.

Despite every media reporter affirming they would be surprised to see him in training camp, I wouldn't. It doesn't seem like the Spurs yet know which way this is going to go but their intention is to keep him.
I tend to believe that Pop decided that Kawhi has to play out his contract. If true that the Spurs rejected Boston offer from the Celtics, including picks and Kyrie for Kawhi...I guess PATFO isn't gonna trade him.

If true Philly and Boston offers, I doubt the Spurs will get better offers than those two...And Pop knows it. At this point, he doesn't a about losing him for nothing in FA next offseason. I'm fine with this...I want to see him playing for the Spurs at least one season more.

Also, Spurs' locker room would be so "funny"...Can't wait to hear what Spurs would leak Woj and what Kawhi's camp to Jabari/Shams about that locker room.

There's no way any team can get equal value trading a superstar. But, the spurs will still get a good return and the guys that you don't think are offered up will be offered up when the spurs get ready to trade him. The reason tbey aren't on the table now is because the spurs haven't committed to accepting a package with them and teams don't want to get stuck with a disgruntled player of their own by offering a guy and have the trade not go through. It's really a simple negotiation. At this point the spurs are playing kawhi against his 40M in extra losses that they can extract from him trying to get him to expand a list of team that's he's willing to sign with. Eventually, the potential loss of revenue and the fact that he doesn't want to report will convince him to tell them which teams will be acceptable and then a deal will happen pretty quickly.
