Man I hate Barea. He looks like Magic ing Johnson vs LA and he becomes the mental and physical midget that he is vs Miami.

Terry had some good looks. Barea not so much.

Barea had 3 gimme's and only made 1 of them. The rest of his shots were highly contested.

Terry had 6 relatively uncontested 3-pt shots(one was a 26-footer). So throw out the 26-foot three pointer, which was a poor shot and not a shot you expect to see him make, and Terry went 3-5 on his good looks from downtown. These are pretty much the shots you expect to see him make. Only one of his 3-pt attempts was contested well, and he missed it.

He had only 3 shots from 2-pt range. 2 of those shots were highly contested by Bosh and Haslem and were not good attempts. He had 1 shot in the PnR that was a gimme from 15 feet but missed.

All in all, he went 3-6 on shots you expect to see him make. He forced some shots, but that was mostly due to the shot clock. So when you break it down he didn't exactly have a bad shooting night. But those are shots he hit against the Lakers and Thunder, and when you take that away, the Mavs scoring takes a big hit.

Marion was big because he filled the void left by Barea and Peja's inability to score, but I still think Terry is the x-factor. I don't expect Barea to have a big series and i don't really know what to expect out of Peja, but if Terry isn't perfect with his open looks I don't think the Mavs have a chance in this series.
Terry and Peja had some great looks and bricked them. Barea was able to get in the lane with ease. They definitely collapsed on him well, as expected, leaving shooters open outside, but as Dirk said, he seemed to rush a couple bad shots, while missing some chippies. If Barea settles down, he should be able to get some really open shots for his teammates, and some better shots for himself.

I agree with Terry being the x-factor. He really needs to get his head in the game on Thursday, and not try to do too much. Especially with Lebron guarding him. Carlisle is going to need to find a way to exploit them if they are going to have Lebron spending his time chasing Terry around. They basically need to turn Terry into Ray Allen, running around while Lebron gets screened to death, and wear him out as much as possible.

The Mavs haven't faced a team with players who can guard Terry, Kidd and Barea the way Bron and Wade can. It looks like the Heat are turning Terry into a spot up shooter. And I dont think that's the best role for the Mavs #2 option.

You said earlier that nobody is getting by Miami and then you went on to say, in the same thread, the Mavs were winning in 6

I agree, he probably wont have a massive scoring impact. For the most part, Barea shouldn't have too much trouble attacking. The Heat just don't really have the size or quick guards (unless they decide to use Bron or Wade) to keep him out of the paint. But when he gets in the paint, hes going to have to look to pass for the most part, because of the way Miami collapses on defense. Peja, Kidd, Dirk, and Terry all need to be ready to knock some 3s down the rest of the series. Peja especially will be key IMO. He really needs to step up.

Terry needs to utilize pump-fake drives more when defenders close out on him, and Chandler/Marion needs to be ready to dive cut to give him support when defenses collapse. Of course, easier said than done, especially when its Terry we are talking about...

Most of all, Terry needs to be more patient when looking to get the ball to Dirk. If he notices Dirk is fighting for position, he is just too impatient, and will pass the ball somewhere else, instead of waiting till Dirk is ready, and it ends up causing the offense to be completely out of flow, and usually ends up with a rushed shot late in the shot clock.

I was just told on another message board not to call Lebron names. Apparently, Lecrab is offensive.

No meltdown right now. I kind of had an epiphany last night while I was trying to get some sleep. I'm calm for now.
