You can ABSOLUTELY be a bust at #4, but not at, say, 16. There are expectations from high draft picks, and I’m guessing ‘rotation player’ wasn’t on Orlando’s bingo card.
He is a good defender, a better shooter and passer than Johnson. Because he was drafted number 4, doesn't make him a bust. He is a third wheeler for nearly every playoff team in the NBA. For Celtics, he would be the 4th wheel. On top of that, if Gordon was playing for the Spurs, he would be starting instead of Johnson.

So to be clear, this is his seventh season, not his eighth. He's completed six seasons so far and won't complete his ninth until 2022-2023.
This sounds like the correct read.
Let’s just agree that he’s well into his extension, and his game is defined as rotation player. That’s what career 13/5 is.
Not really. Like I am not going to defend every aspect or Gordon, but he's still early enough in his career that his first two meh years are influencing his numbers. His last five seasons have him averaging 15/7/3/1/1. That's actually a really healthy stat line that a lot of players would struggle to duplicate.
The thing I remember about Reddish’s draft profile is that for a lottery pick, his floor was low, and he was on many analysts possible bust lists. Shooting consistency was the big question, based on 3G% and FT% at Duke.
We'llhave to agree to disagree on this one.
It's not even that I'll think he become a star. I think he can be molded into a nice 3 and D player.
At what number do you think he should have been drafted at then?

I will laugh if we end up buying out LMA only a year after we bought out Carroll. What a mess of a front office.
And two years from Pau Gasol’s buyout. They also gave away Bertrans for nothing and didn’t even get a measly pick swap. Nothing. They probably didn’t even call teams in the West to unload him.
we have Rudy
Don't forget wasting a 1st round pick on Milutinov because they didn't want extra salary on the roster that year and opted to stash somebody they never intended to bring over
Aaron Gordon is overrated on both ends. He’s an inconsistent 3-point shooter, who lacks to have an in between game. He’s also not that good of a team defender. If y’all want some insight on who he is watch this
I saw his current haircut and knew he wasn’t over himself.
Tough loss but honestly the Spurs have done well to have the record they have. PATFO's inability to address the front court is tragic though. You're setting up players for failure because the roster is so poorly balanced. Don't expect much other than Aldridge getting bought out out the deadline. They're probably finish around 36-36 and make the play-in tournament which should be exciting at least![]()
The San Antonio Spurs have made it clear that LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan are available via trade, according to league sources. Gregg Popovich, of course, announced Aldridge and San Antonio's mutual interest to part ways, yet the rumblings surrounding his destination have remained quiet.
Only the Celtics and Miami Heat have been consistently mentioned by league personnel as teams with significant interest in Aldridge. And similar to the Drummond situation, it seems both franchises may be content to wait to add his services on the buyout market. The Heat are expected to make a spirited pursuit of Aldridge if he does become a free agent, but the Celtics could offer a primary frontcourt role in Brad Stevens' offense. "That sounds like their No. 1 priority," one team scout said.
DeRozan is also playing out the final year of his contract, and sources said he has an interest in playing elsewhere following this season—perhaps with an eye toward the Eastern Conference. DeRozan is quietly having an exceptional season, scoring 20.3 points per game on 49.1 percent shooting and boasting a 7.5-to-1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio. "He's transformed himself into this swing playmaker," one team analytics staffer said.
The likelihood appears low that DeRozan will reach a buyout with San Antonio, but by all accounts his time with the Spurs seems to be nearing its end.
The ever-active Knicks have considered acquiring DeRozan, sources said, but New York has the same reservations regarding that possible move as with the Victor Oladipo scenario we detailed Monday.
There's a faction of the Chicago front office that feels adding one piece such as DeRozan could push the Bulls firmly into the postseason, sources said.
And the Orlando Magic have discussed trading Evan Fournier, also on an expiring deal, plus a first-round pick for DeRozan, as the four-time All-Star could re-sign and help bolster the Magic once their roster returns to full health next season.
Multiple league sources mentioned Trey Lyles and his representatives are interested in a new destination for the 25-year-old forward and that the Spurs are also open to moving Rudy Gay in the final year of his contract.

So the spurs are open to trading guys.... but will they!!!! Lol
It's Bleacher Report, so take it with a grain of salt.
My idea for a Bulls trade:
DeMar, Lyles
for
Otto Porter Jr., Lauri Markkannen, their 1st round pick
Honestly, the proposed trade with Orlando isn't bad. I'll take Fournier and their 1st for DeRozan.
Think that trade is more realistic. They swap Bogdanic and his 3 remaining years for DeMar, with the ablity to re-sign DeMar.
While Walker and a possible late lottery pick for Collins. It seems pretty clear that they aren't willing to max him, meaning that they'll lose him. Walker and, say, the 14th pick for Collins is a pretty compe ive offer.
Don't do it, don't give me hope. And the Orlando Magic have discussed trading Evan Fournier, also on an expiring deal, plus a first-round pick for DeRozan
Interesting about Lyles, Spurs seem to really like him but he can't seem to can't get on the court. Ironically, he was on his way out of the league before he signed with the Spurs last season.
Yes please...
I'm good with either of those...
That never ceases not to piss me off. They didn't need to stash anyone, and missed out on players like Nance Jr., Harrell and Josh Richardson going with that strategy. Complete waste of a first.
