    RIVALS:
When the Texas Longhorn coaching staff gets a prospect on campus for a visit, you can pretty much take it to the bank that the player (and those close to him) is going to come away impressed with what he saw.

That rule of thumb certainly held true over the weekend, with top national linebacker Tyler Taylor an unofficial visit to UT on Saturday. The Sugar Hill (GA) Lanier standout was accompanied by his mother on a one-day visit to check out the Texas program, and Taylor said he liked everything about the trip.
Key quote: “The highlight of the visit was probably talking to coach Strong. I can tell he has strong core values of how he’ll make sure I’m a great man off the field as well as a dog on the field,” Taylor said.A top UT priority: The Longhorns have extended only a handful of linebacker offers to some of the country’s most sought-after prospects – guys like Baron Browning and Anthony Hines. Taylor was another early offer and Texas linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary stressed to the 6-3, 220-pounder that he too is high on the Longhorns’ wish list.
“I spent a lot of time with coach B.J. He was saying that I’m one of the few guys that they have offered and they know I’m a baller, so when you only have a few guys, everybody is at the top of the list,” Taylor said. “He was also saying that being of the few guys, there wouldn’t be a rush to hurry and commit.”
A solid overall impression for Taylor and his mother: Taylor had an idea coming in that he would like what he saw from the Texas campus and facilities, but he said it was the time spent with the Longhorn coaching staff that may have had the biggest impact.
Perhaps equally important, Taylor’s mother liked the visit as well.
“I really love the coaching staff. I knew the program and facilities were going to be state of the art but the coaching staff had a huge impact on me,” Taylor said.
“My mom, I think, had a really good time with coach Strong. She really enjoyed the visit and said she would be okay handing me off to the coaching staff here at UT.”
List of favorites coming soon: Taylor, who will compete in the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in June, is hoping to reveal his favorites sometime this week. After Saturday’s visit, the Longhorns have put themselves in position to make the cut, although noting is set in stone just yet.
“I’m not 100 percent sure yet. But I think they have a good chance,” Taylor said.

    More info on Baylor players:

    Nahlin:

"TCU: I think they get the Duvernay's. They'd still press for Omar, yes, he's that good. They think they have a shot for Bowen.

UT: Don't want y'all getting too excited but numbers could be a real concern. TCU is pushing for Cobb as well but I think it will be UT. Hudson looks good as Justin said but not sure what's up with the sister angle. He definitely wants out bad and mom wants him out bad. I'm not sure who mom had at 2nd place but that could be a factor.
    "

    From TFB...

    – UPDATE (3:08 pm): I spoke to a second source who confirmed that Texas is in fact interested in a name outside of the offensive line group…Parrish Cobb. I’m told that Cobb will also seek a release and the schools he is considering are Texas, TCU and Georgia.

Any in-conference transfer would cause them to lose a year of eligibility without a release which looks like a very remote possibility at this point. Doubt any of the transfer to a B12 team without an unrestricted release.

The unique part of this is a lot of those guys haven't enrolled and refuse to.

Their eligibility hasn't started, so we'll see how it plays out.

I get that but unless they get a release from their LOI it is still considered to fall under the transfer rules for the NCAA and would have to sit a year, plus B12 rules cause in-conference transfers to lose a year of eligibility (see Baker Mayfield) so after sitting a year they would have 3 to play 3. No loss of year for out-of-conference transfers but still must sit one year.

If somehow Baylor changes their stance and agrees to release them from LOI its not considered a transfer.

Correct and this is what I was referencing.

My understanding is if Baylor refuses to release these players, they can then pe ion the NCAA.

    Summer I Enrollees:

NCAA cannot do anything without first ruling on potential violations and that would be well after the start of the fall semester. NCAA has no say on releases from LOIs otherwise.

Do you have a link on that? I'm genuinely curious.

Lampkin officially filed for a release with the NCAA last summer and was denied, but that was after UT denied him originally.

I know at least one Baylor recruit has already filed with the NCAA.

In a bit of a twist, Scout believes WR Devin Duvernay and CB Donovan Duvernay will be Longhorns if they're released from their LOI.

UT was not interested in Donovan during the last recruiting cycle.

Inside Texas echoed this somewhat by saying the staff intends to take more players than we previously thought assuming they're released.

A lot of twists and turns until this is over, but getting Hudson alone is huge. Getting any combo of the Duvernays, Cobb, and or JP would be frosting on the cake. Given that this was going to be a smallish class, wonder if any of the "borderline" 2017 guys pull the trigger early to save their spot.

First of all you don't file with the NCAA you file with the NLI. They can rule if there are personal extenuating considerations such as an illness or financial hardship but cannot rule based on a coach being fired.
