Well, it's not like he was playing great this season without Kawhi either...If you watched his last 2 games esp vs Miami, it was too easy to make him look like an role player.
I wouldn't....What other thing the franchise could do? Raptors' FO HAD to trade one of Lowry/DeRozan. Both players together were a playoffs big fiasco. You can't expect a different result doing the same thing over and over again...
Also, the trade has been successful even if Kawhi doesn't sign with them. Lowry needed this change, he seems a way better player without DeRozan on court, and having Kawhi working with OG and Siakam is helping to their development.
The trade was a W when the Raptors got 1 season of Kawhi without giving up OG or Pascal. Should have insisted on OG.
Let’s not forget that Kawhi was dismantled in the playoffs by ing Andre Roberson.
How will this trade look when they lose Kawhi?

Kawhi missed ton of open 3's in that series...His 2P% was great, it was his 3P% what killed his effeciency.
If Dree "forced" Kawhi to shoot .48% overrall...I wouldn't he was dismantled. After all, Russ won an MVP shooting .40%
Also, the Spurs would have won that series if in game 5 with Kawhi in his best superstar form, they would have called a play for him instead of going with 2 consecutive Parker-LMA pick&rolls to close the game.. in a night both guys couldn't hit an ocean.

They're winning games even when they don't play well. I don't know what the ceiling is but they've got the best chance of dethroning the Warriors we've seen in years. Long athletic players are the key to beating the Warriors.
