The way Manu was playing D, I think he could have stopped Manu.
LMA joked it shouldn't count as a dunk cos he barely made it to the rim, Manu replied saying he agrees and that it was embarassing, but he'll take as he has now dunked twice and he's sure that's enough to beat Bobo![]()
I remember his remark on twitter: when Jazz fans should tune in to see the couple of hops they could expect from Bobo this season.
Those two have an incredible sense of humor.
His mere presence is so uplifting to his teammates especially for those who couldn't be arsed when losing.
I wouldn't mind Manu back for the minimum next year; he seems to be still enjoying himself with no chronic health issues impeding him, unlike Timmy
Yeah, he is only good for 1 in 5 games, but the compe ive fire and will-to-win are still unshakable..I value his mentorship to Dejounte next season more so than Parker..
Good point but Dijon has him right now.
Frankly I still think this one is it for Manu... but one never knows.
pop chooses who sits where in the spurs locker room. so certain players will rub off on other certain players.
manu sits between dedmon and kawhi.
Veeerrry interestink. How do you get this info??? Tbh, I never gave a moment's thought to locker room arrangements. I guess I thought the guys with seniority had their (more or less) "permanent" lockers and newbies just filled-in vacant lockers. The idea of Pop controlling the locker room arrangement makes me wonder whether other coaches around the league exert that much control over the locker room - or if they get that involved at all...
i recently visited the locker room. td's locker was in the corner. it's not being used currently.
Did you take a tour of the AT&T Center? Be interesting to see who next occupies Tim's locker and WHEN...
yeah, i had a private one.
got to talk to the original coyote too. not exactly sure what he does now but he works for the spurs hr. he had some great stories, real nice guy.
A toast to exceeding 10 years with this thread. I remember this discussion
started following Manu's stellar performance against Portland. Unbelievable!
^ care to explain how you came up with the meme on the le?
Come to think of it this was before memes even were known...mainstream wise.
Remind me. To which meme are you referring? The le itself was inspired by an old Saturday Night Live skit series on Coach Mike Ditka "Da Bears." In Bears' fans minds, Ditka could do no wrong.
Memes were just coming into popularity back then. Most of the time, we just captioned pics. I think timvp did the first meme in this thread. Manu's occasional great performances can sort of be like a force of nature.
I think what got the thread moving in the direction it took was the reference to Jack Bauer in the first post. The combination of Bauer and Ditka just took on a life of its own after a while.
It's crazy seeing all of the old posters who are no longer here. At least one is no longer with us.
Manu challenged his mirror to a staring contest and won.
That, and the fact that Manu would just have those types of moments where he took over games, even if only for brief periods, to seize victories from the jaws of defeat (and often on the road).
As we reach the end of his career, I think that Manu's historical legacy (and he'll have one aside from his pantheon place among the greatest bench guys in NBA history and a notably team-first guy) will likely be more a matter of anecdotes than numbers. This thread is a great testament to those moments in Manu's career; he's among the most ferocious compe ors to play at the NBA level, but he's been an immensely talented player who channeled his talent and compe iveness into so many sublime moments that can't really be quantified to demonstrate his greatness.
The bats come out to see Manu.
Tim was the greatest Spur of all time but Manu has to be the most entertaining - in my opinion. I never saw anyone compete as hard as Manu and turn that compe iveness into play-making. Whether it was making a great steal, drawing a foul, making a great pass or nailing a killer 3. I hope that made sense.
This is the thread to bump
