I still think he needs to improve on defense if we are going to offer him anything more than MLE money in the offseason. His rotations are still pretty bad. But in his defense, he really needs more time to pick up the system. We'll see how things go in the playoffs.

As long as KT or Tim are in when he is, it's all good. At least he's ok 1 on 1, he just needs to learn the D plays better. And Bowen averaging 25+ minutes in the POs would make Gooden look dare I say decent. If Bruce doesn't get at least 30 min against LAL, I will point to that as the main reason the Spurs got knocked out by a Bynumless LAL team, AGAIN.

Drew Goodens so good, his turn around jumpers and his jumpshot game period is so raw but finesse.

Good thing he has a crapload of moves to go to, unlike KT. KT needs 3 tries or more for putback after a layup miss, but Gooden would dunk that after the ball left the cylinder. KT is as superior at D as Gooden is as O, plus he has chem with the team, so I hope KT about as many as Gooden, with Bonner playing the least. I'd like a start Gooden experiment, but he might be too much of a ballhog.

Just I've already said that but his number of rebounds are not very good for the moment. Anyway I'm happy to see a big that can score with Tim, tonite the team shot only 15 3s !

He has been playing great coming off the bench these last couple of games, but I still think we should start him. I'd love to see him playing 30 plus minutes per game. We need him to keep posting this borderline-all star numbers to get a chance and I think starting him and playing him mayor minutes will help that cause.

I'm thinking the Spurs can live with this production, no?

I am NOT comparing Gooden to David Robinson, but who can argue that Duncan has seen a better big since him? He may not be able to rebound as advertised, but in the last three games he has scored 17, 15, and now 20 points (18 pt average). Manu, meanwhile averaged 15.5 for this season. He is NOT better, but he may certainly replace Manu as that "third guy we need to plan for" with opponents.

If you watched the game Udoka stole about 5 uncontested rebounds from Drew. Drew also had a few tip outs that don't count on the stat sheet.

Gooden can rebound. Don't worry about that. He's still new to the team. He's finding his footing and getting his rhythm. He's got the scoring down, he's getting the defense down and I think you'll see his rebounding improve in the coming weeks too.

Considering; OKC has many decent individual defenders, Drew was playing with Tim, and Kurt for much of his time off the BENCH, then you add Ime who had 9 rebounds? 4 rebounds for Drew doesn't sound so far fetched. I'm just thankful he was able to bring some much needed offense to the floor plus 2 big blocks.

I'm not worried about his rebounding, Manu4Tres made a good point about Ime's rebounding though..

if Drew Gooden is actually going to play decent D, and even block some shots, then he'll be a good fit here..he's been very impressive..

You have to compare him to Bonner at center. He's starting to consistently put up better numbers so he ought to start. He doesn't have to be a great defensive center just equal to Bonner. He won't spread the floor as much, but then we don't have to count on Bonner hitting 3s either.

I think the most important aspect is how Drew and Tim react to one another when they are both on the court. I can't say that he's playing like Drob in terms of complimenting Tim, but neither was he in Tim's way. I think he's going in the right direction tough. When he's in the game together with Tim we are now front court heavy, giving the wings room to play.
