If you could combine this with the 'reputation' score for posters that some boards have - then you could say 'ignore anyone with a reputation under -100' (or make that the board default setting) and use that to deal with the idiots.
another Idea:
Annual awards for:
Thread of the year
Post of the year
Poster of the year (ST MVP)
Troll of the year
Funniest Thread
Rookie of the year
Photoshop work of the year
winner could get like an annual badge/ trophy under their user names

few years ago I went with that idea, and 'they' told me DO WHAT YOU WANT
ps. There is nothing from the list for me I guess. The bar is too high![]()
Well done! I have definitely noticed the quality posters (and postings) increase lately. It's good to see some brains back in the forum. I continue to enjoy coming here and offering my "Trade Manu for _" shtick once in awhile...
And I still hope to see Sefolosha in a Spurs uni someday!
GSG
Spurs are certainly doing their part.
I find myself wanting to "rep" people all the time. But, then I remember I can't do that here.
I think too many people would abuse the "rep" function here. It's easy to add it, but I have always thought it would be a SpursTalk disaster.
Haven't been to the forum in some time or sporadically but this seems like the right thing to do. There are some elements posting here that have abused this forum for far too long.
Great to see you back!![]()
Awesome. It's time to kick it up a notch.
I'm not around here as much as I used to be, but it there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
manu 2 pts.....................WTF thats the game.
I'd just like to say that I've noticed the bar being raised already - better quality game threads, better threads in general, better discussion, and of course Kori and timvp's new features, which are fantastic. Keep it up, good people!![]()
I don't like the idea of the rep system, at all. The idea of a like function, similar to Facebook would be a really good one. I often find myself agreeing with something or enjoying a post but I simply do not want to waste space and time by quoting it and then positing "Agree" or a thumbs up.
Same here.I am willing to bet your inbox is probably coming close to around 500 messages, but I sent you a PM a few days ago Timvp. I don't think I'll provide many insider tid-bits, but I'm sure you guys can put me to work.

I come in and out on these forums, depending on the "current themes," intelligent input, reactions, humor (there have been some posts that had me laughing on the floor). I loved the descriptive narratives that Laker, Sun, Rocket, and Maverick fans offer (well, at times, when they aren't being nasty). Like another fan said, I have learned a lot about basketball simply from reading reflections and reactions from all of you, and especially from timvp.
When there is time, and probably best between seasons, like in the middle of summer, we should run a poll to see who goes back the farthest as a Spurs fan. I was living there in S.A. when the Houston Rockets played a few of their games there. Once, there were so many S.A. fans rooting for the Lakers during a Rockets/Lakers game that the owner of the Rockets threatened to not come back for any more games. Fortunately, there were people like Red McCombs and others who jumped at the opportunity to save the Dallas Chapparrals and make them the S.A. Spurs and brought them to town. The year must have been 1972. Tom Nissalke was the Spurs' first coach. My season tickets (5 of them because I took my 4 kids) were under $10 each. The site was the old Arena. And I'm still flying down there to watch them play a couple of times a year.
Beat that, if you can.
They would Kori,..
That kind of " Badge " system never serves forums well unless it's based within a thread thumbs up or thumbs down system determined by interests of fellow community members and readers.
See regardless to ones tenure or fan allegiance true viewers learn who's who and what's what almost instantaneously. It's in regards to discovering who's thoughts and perspectives they enjoy reading based upon a poster establishing and the viewers discovering who knows their stuff pretty quick,..can't fool em and it's emphatically indisputable.
Yet contributing isn't a poster evaluation contest of Superiority -vs- Inferiority thing trying to top one another. Because the game is larger than one thought and a forum thrives on diversity so all contributors can be community assets. But there will be detectably distinct differences between those whom provide more insight and accuracy of game grasp than per say another and or others,..that only creates balance that's devoid of boredom.
So any adding of a static display " rep " feature that can be a misleading icon of iden y. Solely obtained for mass spamming is merely a platform for providing an insecurity badge for the volume shooting board buffoons,.. expertise is identified by grasp, depth and non bias accuracy.

That sounds like what fans can find fun,..
I disappear for a year and it all goes to heck in a handbasket...
sorry, my bad.

I'll get back to everyone this weekend. Sorry for the delay.
Oh and if you posted in this thread that you want to contribute but didn't PM, please go ahead and PM me so I don't have to crosscheck the thread with my PM box.
I will also help and try to post more insightful comments.
Don't you need a bar first before you can raise it?
I have begun the process of PMing everyone back. If you PMed me, you should have a response by the end of the day. Sorry for the delay.
