I like Hacker Pschorr Weizen and Dunkelweizen, but I rarely drink wheat beers anymore. Julius Echter has some good stuff too. If you can find Anchor's Christmas Ale or St. Arnolds Winter Stout I would recommend those.

Lots of good beer advice in here.

Looking for some advice that might help me take the next step to enjoying a wider variety of beer. I seem to have been stuck in neutral for a few months and haven't found anything I enjoy.

I'll start out with the basic stuff that I really enjoy....Shiner, Guiness, and Newcastle. I've recently tried and liked Arrogant Bas , Maredsous 8/10, and Stone Pale Ale. I bought a sixer of Ruination IPA and didn't like it at all.

I went to Freetail and tried two of his flavored porters and the rye wit and didn't like them at all. I'll just drink the regular freetail ale.

Any ideas on what beers I should go and try from here? Should I just accept that I'm more of an ale guy and that's that? Keep in mind that I'll still drink something like miller lite and don't think it tastes like piss.

Try Racer 5 IPA if you can find it. It's really good, and they should have it at Spec's - assuming there is one where you live.

Real Ale's Phoenixx Double ESB is also good, and they probably have it at spec's as well. If you can find Sierra's Celebration Ale around, I like that as well.

I was in Specs the other day, and they definitely have the Racer 5 IPA and I think the Celebration Ale too. All SN six-packs were $7.25 a couple days ago. I can't remember what Racer 5 was (I was really in the mood for a porter, so passed on the IPAs this time).

As for the SN Celebration, yeah that's it, and I highly recommend it also.

I'm pretty sure it's a seasonal beer though, so I don't know how long it's going to still be out for sale.

Bum, Stone's Old Guardian Barleywine is out in stores now - 22 oz bomber, around 11% alc.

D'oh, Spec's (in SA, not the Austin one) didn't have the OG when I went there tonight; maybe it sold out quickly or something. They do have six-packs of Sierra Nevada Bigfoot though, which made my day since Bigfoot 2009 is one of my 3 or 4 favorite beers, right there with Ruination IPA, Arrogant Bas , and Rogue Chocolate Stout.

I picked up a bomber of Racer 5 IPA too, but after trying it, I have mixed feelings. The flavor is very smooth, but I feel like the hops are kind of drowned out by the sweetness. I don't think it'd beat out Stone, Stone Ruination, or SN Torpedo in my list of top 3 IPAs.

It can vary from batch to batch. The keg on tap at the Draught House in Austin is amazing. The one before it was ehh.

I have to say the Racer 5 IPA greatly improves as it warms. I wasn't very impressed by it cold, but after giving it some time to warm, it has grown on me.

Anyone else been to Yardhouse yet at La' Cantera? They have a pretty good selection of draft beer. Something around 80+ beers on tap.

I still prefer Flying Saucer though because they always get new .

I went to Stone's Sour Fest this weekend.

    http://www.stoneworldbistro.com/sourfest/

It was awesome. Also went to Alesmith and Lost Abbey, and two different Pizza Port locations around San Diego. I need to head up to the Northwest in the next year or two as well.

I can't stand beer and wine just never really appealed to me. Give me a good vodka any day. I have a bottle of o's. Cheap . And with vodka, cheap price is usually a very bad thing. But o's is ing awesome, up there with Grey Goose, Ciroq, Belvedere, Stoli and Kettle One.
